One Game One Shotgun

1. If I can group "grouse" together, that would be my choice and of my current set, I would take my Browning BSS Sporter 20 gauge... over our English Springer, Lexie.

Edit;

It would hurt me desperately to be limited to one pursuit and one gun...

2. Would be waterfowling, from early teal and woodies to mid-season greenheads and bluebills, to late season whistlers and buffs... with a smattering of field and water geese thrown in... the gun would be a Browning Maxus.

3. NoDak/SoDak and local pheasants and shooting a Browning 525 Field 12 gauge.

4. Woodcock and snipe on the "shyte matt" and alder scrub, again with Lexie and a Browning BSS 12 gauge I/C and I/C.

Upland with a side by side for me.

Yup!

And to be more specific, it would be sharp tailed grouse on the open plains of Western Canada, on clear crisp 10-15 degree days under endless blue skies stretching from horizon to horizon, with my 16 gauge customized 1935 Fox Sterlingworth (in the works) sporting 28" barrels with moderate chokes (can never decide).

Or maybe tramping up draws leading up and away from the Missouri River in north central South Dakota waiting but never fully prepared for the explosion that comes when that #### pheasant figures he has run out of cover and takes to the air. Carrying, of course, my round action 1921 Manufrance Ideal 6R EE Excelsior 12 gauge with 29" mod and full barrels.

It might be picking my way along an old logging road in northern Ontario, my Llewellen setter hard at work, trying to be ready for the unique wing beat sound of a flushing ruffed grouse with my 5 pound 1905 W & S Tolley 12 gauge single barrel game gun and a light load of 3/4 ounce of #7 in the chamber.

Could be head down in the blind at Delta Marsh, 30" Damascus barreled 1907 Remington 1894 BE grade choked full and full, while the flight of greenheads circle the decoys like some F18's buzzing the crowd at an airshow.

Possibly sitting still, just after dawn, back to a tree, rivercane yelper hanging from it's lanyard around my neck, while that big tom rushes towards me intent on dispersing the jakes and ready to take on any other tom that dares to challenge him for his harem of hens, 1908 Fox A grade 12 gauge, 30" full and fuller at the ready.

Crap! Really? Just one and one?

Can't do it.;)

Ya upland. Pheasant hunting with the kids and with my old Winchester pump. That dream isn't fancy but it is a reality.

I as well would choose Grouse hunting with one of my double guns. Not that I don't like the summer months, but can't wait for the fall. In the woods, gun, pack, walking and waiting for that first flush

Without a doubt pheasant, sharptails or Hungarian partridge over a pointing dog using a 28 gauge, likely a SxS. I plan on doing just that three days per week this fall.

Waterfowl hunting with my Browning Silver

Its not currently my go to waterfowl gun, but if limited to just one type of hunting with one of my guns...this would be it.

Pigeon/dove hunting with any of my Franchi 48AL is a very close second place

If I could have any gun? Like even a gun I don't have but just a dream? Okay a Beretta 690 Field III / Grouse / over our English Cocker Spaniel Barcha.

If it must be a gun I own well this is very easy because I already only own one shotgun, Traditions by Fausti, and I have never hunted any other upland game bird than ruffed and blue grouse.

Well Mumbles if I could have any gun, AYA 12ga SxS. Even settle for a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon. Just don't have the $3000 to spend at this time. Would be nice though.
