Felt Recoil on a 308 Ruger Precision Rifle?

I could shoot mine all day no problem, I've run it with a ATRS brake and now have a Insite Arms Heathen on it that I much prefer over the two, have never shot without but even if recoil increases a significant amount with out a brake it would still be tame.

I am just wondering if 308 is too much for me. I have never shot a 308 before and dont plan on shooting one until i buy the RPR lol

You will be fine. In a 10+pound rifle, with an adjustable stock/cheek you will be ok. If you find it at all uncomfortable, add a brake. Buy, shoot, enjoy......

If your a 70Lb lightweight it would be too much. If your all heavier you will find it fine. If you find you feel the recoil add a brake, and you won't. My 10 Tr in Cadex chassis I can shoot all day and not even feel it, you will be fine! Buy it, Shoot it, Enjoy it!!

Ruger purpose built the RPR around being an efficient precision rifle for the .308 cartridge. I've only put one box through mine so far, but it's a very smooth firing gun. I don't have a brake on mine and it still manages the recoil really well. Like others have mentioned, it's also a fairly heavy rifle, so that coupled with the ergonomics/adjustable cheek rest&stock all make it a very forgiving 30 cal firearm.

308 is pretty easy, with a decent brake it will feel like 223 without a brake IMHO. I bought a 300 win mag in a lightweight chassis.... that kicks. got a brake for it and it too now is very tolerable.

You definatly know when you've squeezed one off but it won't hurt ya

I shoot with a 16 year old girl who has no problem with a conventionally stocked .308 target rifle.
