The brass magnet cage tool works like a treat on hard floors or carpet. Not worth a darn on gravel, sand or bark mulch.

Tried the caldwell brass pickup tool. Doesn't like soft ground at all. I have tried so many different things. I have found the fastest is bending down and picking them up. I'm a brass badger lol.

That's what I made for when I shoot the 9mm carbine. I don't think it'd help much for a pistol shot while standing, though. It's nylon screen door material rolled on 3/4" dowels inserted in a 2x4" bases.

The trouble for a standing shooter is that you want your screen to be large and tall, but still portable (fits in the trunk) and easy to set up... yet not to fall down at the lightest breeze. Tall order.
