Trigger locks that will fit in small cases

So just picked up a CZ SP-01 on EE, and very stoked to fire it... soon.

I'd like to use the CZ case it comes in to transport to the range, as it has the lock spot, which seemed a great idea till I tried to put my monolith trigger lock on it....

The only trigger lock that I could find that fit was some micky mouse ones that I bought a couple decades ago, that are 'locked' by turning a screw on them with basically a golf shoe cleat tightener...

What do you folks use and recommend in this scenario? Ditch the CZ case for a better quality one? Is there a 'low profile' trigger lock that will fit in a small case?

Thanks!

Dan

I use a Bellock brand trigger lock. Good lock, it is a combo-lock, and it fits in my aftermarket "BELL" made metal handgun-case.

I use Bellock for both my Colts. Each Colt I own came with it's own case which is low profile and made of plastic. I know the gun will fit with the lock in the Colt case, although it is snug and there is some flex in the Colt case.

Personally, I find the manufacturer's cases these guns come in rather crappy and for lack of a better word, cheap. I wouldn't put it past such a case costing $13.

My advice, get the metal case made by BELL, or something similar. Get one that fits at least 2 guns, if not, they make a case that will fit 4.

FYI, the BELL metal cases are combo-lock clasps also.

I had to go with a two gun case for some of my guns

I use the DAC trigger locks because of the small size. You could go with the Omega Safety Locks as well. They lock inside the chamber. I have a couple of them. You can order them from Northtrailsports.

Like those DAC locks I think I will order some for sure. Right now i'm using the screw type ones which are nice and small but time consuming. I wonder what a road side stop with Omega locks would yield. I guess it's technically a "secure locking device"

I bought an SP-01 new, put a Franzen combo on it, took the extra goodies out of the hard case the CZ came in (CD etc) and it closed up in there fine albeit a bit tight. Unfortunately you still need a cable lock as it is the only way to lock the case mine came in. Wound up just buying a proper lockable case. The plastic hard case it comes in will work for a while but it is a bit of a pain as it is a tight fit, have to cable lock the handle shut and the hinge is not pined it is just a plastic hinge.

DAC trigger locks for me. Crappytire carries them. Walmart sells the re-branded Winchester ones. You can have use to as many firearms you have using a single key by getting the same key-numbered locks. Not as compact as the slimmer plastic version, but more robust. I believe they are Zinc castings. Available in single pack or pack of 3-pcs.

I use the same locks as you have with the golf cleat key but made another key out of a small screwdriver and shortened the screw so it just sticks out the other side when tight, I can remove it now just about as fast as a keyed lock, about a half turn to get it loose then spin the screwdriver between my fingers and its off, same to put it on, a couple quick spins between my fingers till it stops then a half turn and done.

I bought a few of those as well however it slow to remove and put back on due to the screwing action. If they were that small with a lock and key, I'd prefer it. I do see the ones from walmart http:// www.walmart.ca/en/ip/dac-technologies-metal-trigger-lock-3-pack/6000153706609 which I guess I will just order
