Ishapore No. 1 MkIII with England stamp?

I've had this 1941 Lee Enfield for a long while, but I never really took a close look at it and haven't shot it since I was a boy. My father bought it in the late fifties or early sixties. He said he chose this particular one because it had what seemed to him the tightest bore. He checked the rifles in the local Eaton's department store by putting a bullet into the muzzle and picked the one that was tightest fitting. It has a somewhat "sporterized" stock, which is different from the original.

I took a closer look at it today and discovered that it is an Indian rifle, made at the Ishapore Rifle Factory under British supervision. I'm curious about the "England" stamp on the left wrist. What does it mean?

I haven't hunted deer or moose in a long time and sold my CF rifles. Perhaps this might allow me to get back in when I retire in a year.
