Picked one up for sale at CT for 200 bones, regularly 299...

The scope seemed pretty good for an air gun optic. Got it in, tightened everything down to 15 lbs per square inch and sighted it in with 5 shots at 20 yards (longest id be shooting in my yards).

Tagged 4 chipmunks missed the 5th, twice. He took off, went to look. It was shooting an inch low.

Are the sure point optics notorious for losing zero ? I don't feel like spending any more money on this chip problem. So I'd rather not get another optic for it.

Ive only shot "real" firearms I guess you can call them. I only picked this up because after the dog ate some warfarin (rat poison, meant for the munks) I decided to take a more direct approach... (cant use 22, in city limits... Just barley...)

Anyways, fairly happy.

Pics of the purchase. (none of the pests taken unless you really want to see that ?)

You just have to remember that springer style air rifles like that are extremely hard on scopes. They are actually harder on scopes than big caliber center fire rifles.

Yup! That's why the scope has to be airgun rated to withstand the vibration! The scope that came with the package SHOULD be fine...

Cheers

Actually, air guns are not harder on scopes than center fires......

The problem is that airguns need airgun scopes, which are designed to absorb recoil that goes forward as opposed to backwards..... That's why they chew up centerfire and Rimfire scopes so easily.....

That bing said OP, you bought a gun with scope for $200, so what do you figure the scope is worth?....... Not knocking you, I just bought a similar package...... Just saying I don't expect much from the scope......

well it was 300 but it was on sale hahaha. 200 gun 100 scope you would think.

I would expect it as a package rifle, the scope to be acceptable.

It has preformed well so far, just noticed I had to adjust it a bit after 35 ish shots.

All good..... Just bought the combo below from Prophet River......... Going to be some varminting fun...... But I don't expect much from the scope.....

Put a cheap scope on a old Webley Patriot and a any magnum centerfire caliber and see how long it lasts. The Patriots ate even good scopes for lunch.Harold

I looked at your photos. That is not a "Surepoint" scope ... whatever the heck that is ... it is a Centerpoint scope.

After researching the hell out of them I bought one several years ago from one of the best gunstores in BC (a sponsor here) and couldn't be happier. Centerpoints were known for being inexpensive but very good airgun-rated scopes, even though they're also sold by big box retailers like Walmart. Mine is now sitting on a $1500 Stag Model 4 AR-15.

Shoot it a bit more and if it loses zero again just take it back. It is a big company.
