Modern Varmint Rifle Updated Oct 14 2015

Ordered mine with CFW barrel and thread protector. Mostly for target shooting/coyote/varmint hunting and thinking about adding your muzzle brake or LFE. What are the pros/cons of each?

The brake will allow you to spot your own shots, but like all brakes are loud to those in close proximity to the shooter. Recoil is reduced significantly, not that 223 has much recoil to begin with, but muzzle lift is eliminated with our brake.

The LFE is a very effective "flash hider" that reduces muzzle jump more than most flash hiders will. That being said there is very little flash generated by a barrel that 18.6" long.

The brake would make the most sense in my opinion given the application.

I went with out the brake to save weight as well as the thin barrel

Thanks, I'll send you guys an email about adding it to my order or look at getting one later after I finish paying off the second half of my MV. I cannot say how much I appreciate you and the other vendors on this forum who take the time to answer questions. Thanks!

I broke the budget and got the CFW. Of course, I saved all the money you spent on an MH with 308, 338, and 6.5 creed more uppers :).

I'm hoping both the CFW and the rest of the parts get to ATRS soon, the wait is really starting to bother me! Coyote season is only 6 months away, but I'll be in the middle of hard core studying for exams this year so may not get out at all :(. Really hoping to take it on vacation in August or September and get it broken in!
