I recently acquired a Remington Model 512 Sportmaster which is a tube fed bolt action .22 rifle as part of an Estate sale. When I got the rifle the stock had been painted a flat brown and the barrel had faint traces of surface rust. It had been stored in an attic from what I was told since the mid 60's wrapped in an old beach towel. I stripped the stock and found surprisingly very few dings or scratches. I refinished the stock using four coats of Circa 1850 TUNG OIL and it came out beautifully. The barrel and all other metal parts were cleaned using Mineral Spirits bath and a gentle cleaning with 0000 steel wool Came out looking like a new barrel. After reassembly took the rifle to the range and ran approx 50 rds..of Federal Blue Box to CCI ammo with out an failures to extract or light hammer strikes...every round went off. I haven't found much out about the value but have dated the rifle to Sept 1948 . For some reason my Samsung phone and my MAC are not working well together so I can't upload any pics. So for all and any Remington rimfire gurus I'm asking what would be a fair price to ask...Any input would be greatly appreciated....cheers....wolf
