GunNutz etiquette proposal

Moose lives matter...just saying

Considering the thread, and how many are already trying to be clever......this is still good shot. You dont win the internet, but the site for the day for sure. I lose on the laugh you lose thread.

I am probably as bad as any, i also try to pull threads back to the OP when two guys unzip and start measuring instead of staying on topic.

Would not be a bad thing for admin to address and somehow sticky. Not this thread tho.

Correct. Obviously some of you consider yourselves comedians. I hope for your sake you don't have to rely on your "talent" to make a living.

I do enjoy funny comments, but keep them on topic. I agree with those who find gems in some of the off topic remarks at times. Still, keep in mind that those same gems should and would appear in the new thread on the new topic. And, when you're looking for topics you might be interested in, you don't have to read complete, unrelated threads to see if there's anything of interest to you in them. You don't seem to realise that you're depriving yourselves of the very details that are of interest to you. Since I'm going to get my azz flamed anyway, I might as well tell it like I see it:

This USED to be the most amazing forum on the internet, bested perhaps only by the DoubleGun BBS. There are 'regulars' who have long given up even visiting because of the mountains of pablum you have to dig through to find anything worth reading here. What happened to all the newbies who actually want to learn about, and talk about, guns? We had fun - it wasn't all doom and gloom seriousness. But most of all, we depended on and respected each other - we were a community. We even stuck up for one another while we battled gun registries and double standards.

Compare that with 9 out of 10 threads these days wherein the mods ought to be doing their job, carving out the off topic posts and dumping them into new threads. Believe it or not, that was(is) a rule here and it was enforced. Too many so-called Canadian GunNutz are just Nutz. Myself, I value the wisdom of experience and I appreciate those willing to share it with me. Sharptail is an example of someone who has forgotten more about guns that most will ever know. He's alive and well, enjoying himself thoroughly, and couldn't be bothered wasting his time here.

I suspect many of those who posted jokes (not just in this thread) are just hiding their feelings of inadequacy. (Holy crap! Did I just post psychobabble - see what you've done to me!!) I may sound like Chicken Little exaggerating about the sky falling, but it only seems that way because you have nothing to compare today's comments with what we used to see and read. Just as I much prefer classic, hand-made guns to mass produced models, I'd rather read one well written, knowledgeable post to a mass of comments devoid of any substance.

Enough of this chit, I'm going to do some shooting. Have at 'er, boys.

Ya ya and in the old days Chev made better trucks, 870s didn't rust, everyone was a better shot and the moose were all bigger. Come now, no one is hiding "inadequacies". This forum is more civilized than most. As for "psycho" babble you mention, It could be said an aging male grasping for control is more suggestive psychologically than a bunch of people having fun on this thread.

I'm feeling very inadequate these days. The only place I can go to to overcome my inadequacies is Gun Nutz and yell at pots calling kettles black.

Did they have the ignore button on CGN back in the day? No matter, they do these days!

Maybe what's needed is a highjack button? You know you select highjack before you post and the thread title changes colour and the word HIGHJACKED appears in bold letters so those who do not want to read or participate in a highjacked thread can skip right on past. What do you think?

The only sure fix is to make it like the EE... nobody but the OP can respond... the only threads that will get hijacked then are Kamlooky's... he'll hijack his own thread... in Pig Latin.

I like this idea.

so what kind of shotgun should a rich former conservative Muslim who is converting to Jehovah witness buy for self defense against liberal aliens who believe in scientology and human slavery ?

Haven't you read the stickies? You can't ask, buy, sell, offer advice for or even mention you have friends on here. Geesh!! Read the rules!! :p
