Hog hunting Alberta

Never hunted them my salf but worked with guys that have thinned them out pretty good up in Central Alberta
I hear they don't taste very good

That's disappointing. I thought the only good part was you at least got to have bacon while getting rid of the vermin.

I would still try it maybe look up cooking Wildboar who knows the guys down south seam to realy like eating them but then agen thay eat squirrel and raccoons eeee

They are also shooting an entirely different species of hog down south. More domestic pig in the mix than European Boar. I think they call them razorbacks. My buddy in texas shoots lots. They look nothing like European Bore in his pictures. He says he'll take one of them over a deer any day when it comes to eating.

Ever smell an Boar?
They are pretty rank, like reminiscent of standing near a homeless person in need of a shower.
Been around Viet's a bit. Even when clean ( bizarrely enough, given opportunity they are clean) , an uncut Boar will make your nose wrinkle.
Just saying.

One of the reasons domestic hogs are castrated very early in life, affects meat and growth as well, besides improving their temper. ;)

Grizz

I was working in Killem on a pipeline I was hoping to get a wild pig but there scarce now
the local farm boys did a good job of clearing them out

My buddy in Texas only shoots young sows and piglets for meat. Any Boars and Javelina they shoot are strictly pest control and left for the coyotes, crows and buzzards.
