so I just bought a used Dominion Arms 556 off the EE last week, got the paperwork, and went to the range yesterday to try it out. Load it up with some Norinco surplus ammo and squeeze a round off, and no trigger reset? I have to manually push the trigger forward from the rear of the trigger to have it reset. I am a complete newbie to theAR platform, and maybe I was doing something wrong, but I had an experienced AR shooter with me, and he couldn't make it function either? Out of 50 rounds, the trigger only reset about 20% of the time. The seller told me he had installed a trigger from his Windham Weapons AR, and did ship me the original trigger with it. Just looking for ideas on what to try, could he have messed up installing the WW trigger? Should I try cleaning the trigger group and see if it helps out, or maybe have the original trigger installed again? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, not happy to have problems right off the bat with a platform I don't know :(

Possibly a spring was installed incorrectly.

I have seen a case where the spring tension was not enough to reset the trigger. On that particular gun I 'tensioned' the spring legs as a band-aid solution, but ultimately replaced the trigger spring.

I'm with MALICE on this betting that the trigger springs are installed incorrectly...easy to do if one is in a rush. Google "AR trigger install" and compare with your springs.

In my experience, an improperly installed trigger spring won't fire at all. Sounds more like the disconnector is not catching the hammer when the trigger is depressed, and it's allowing the hammer to follow the bolt back into battery. Check your disconnector spring - it may be installed incorrectly or have the wrong spring installed (flared end should be facing the trigger).

Hold the trigger down while pulling back on the charging handle, release the bolt and then try your trigger...if the trigger does not reset I would check the disconnector spring.

The main reason i dont think that's the issue is the OP mensions when he physically pushes the trigger forward, it resets.

OK...missed that. I stand corrected. Hopefully it's a trigger spring then...that would be nice and simple. May be worthwhile to re-install the whole fire control group.

It is a common problem when the two legs of the hammer springs isn't sitting on top of the trigger pivot pin, so there isn't enough tension to reset the trigger.
