F class target dimensions and reduced targets for practice

My question revolves around the use of reduced size targets for F class practice where you either do not have a range available for 500,600,800,900m. Or want to practice multiple distances without moving target boards/butts.

Given the unique nature of calling wind, seeing through mirage, actual ballistics at the upper ranges I'm not assuming that these reduced size targets will make me proficient at the longer ranges I'm just looking at something that can be used for practice.

I'm first working on the premise that ICFRA dimension targets are used in competition here in Canada as I believe the DCRA dimensions are being phased out.

I'm secondly limited to about 300m working distance.

Next using those dimensions does it make sense to reduce by a factor of

(300m/500m=500m reduced target for 300m) or 3/5ths the size for a 500m target at 300m range?

Is my thought process correct? Is this actually going to benefit given that the reduced target should be more difficult at 300m?

What are the CGN community thoughts? Does anyone do something different? Have any suggestions?

I've googled and found some PDFs from accurateshooter and snipershide but is there something better out there?

ICFRA will be the standard going forward.

For practise, see if you can find a club that has the ICFRA 300m target... photocopy and practise. It is a nasty target as it is smaller then the scaling for all other ranges so you really need to be on your game to shoot a clean target.

F class are scaled to the same MOA ratio so there is no "difference" in what you see.

If you really want to up your practise, grab a rimfire and shoot at a 10" with 5" inner at 300m. If the ammo/rifle is sub MOA consistently, you have a great 1000yds analog... at least for the generic 308 load. Go to 200 or 250yds for Open.

I currently use a 300m ICFRA target at 300m.

Given that two f class events I'm signed up for at KTSA. My first two events have 300m and 500m legs with possibility of an 800m I'm looking at an analog that will help with fundamentals given I really only have access to about 300m range short of 2.5 hour drive.

I'm I wasting my time with the reduced targets or is it something that will provide a benefit.

My 22LR gets a work out. Mostly at 100m.

Send me a pm or email.... I am sure there are plenty of options for you to reach out for some LR practise.
