Best 12 ga pump under $800 ?

I have A LOT of decently expensive doubles, O/U's, Semi's and 3 pumps. My Mossberg Maverick goes EVERYWHERE with me. It is near indestructible, light as heck, cheap to buy, and you have tons of money to buy something else to go with it. I have shot HUNDREDS of grouse/ptarmigan/rabbits with it, and it just keeps on ticking and ticking. The 870 I have feels twice as heavy. It certainly isn't twice as reliable. I see new Mavericks for 280ish at either wholesale or cabela's. (can't remember) Anyhow, just keep that in the back of your mind. I bought it as a joke to use "as a loaner" and it took over as my #1 shottie.

Browning bps. Right on the money. Best in that price range for build quality.

Yes my money would be on a BPS as well. Nobody else is building anywhere near the quality, fit and finish in a pump gun today. One thing for sure. Browning has continued to produce quality shotguns in the midst of all this half finished and cheap#### materials downgrading referred to by other manufactures as purpose built!!

I must say that if you aren't going to go "cheap and carefree" like I did with a gun such as the Maverick, I would UNDOUBTEDLY buy a Browning BPS as Spank said. I have a soft spot for anything Browning, as I have found their build quality to be among the best and most consistent over the longest period of time. They just don't make poor stuff. Top shelf for non-custom guns in my opinion.

Another vote for the BPS, build quality is fantastic, and I'm pretty sure BPS stands for " Best Pump Shotgun" :)
However, as a bush gun, it is a bit heavy, but I look at it as a trade off, a bit more weight for a much better build quality

Yes Browning makes quality shotguns, but I am not fussy about the design of the BPS, so just like current Browning rifles, I won't own one.

Browning BPS or Remington wingmaster. Handle both and pick the one you like best. I had both, the Browning was a much better made shotgun in all regards. I kept the wingmaster because it fits me just a bit better and I shoot noticeable better with it. But man did I love the looks of that bps medallion!!

I've had a couple pumps now. The only one left is a 870 police, now in OD Green houge with a spare 28" barrel(threaded). I can hunt most things with one gun (within respective distances) thinking of getting a rifled barrel just because. Parts support is unmatched

I have two 870p's. One was done up by Tac-Ord as a "defensive" SG. The other was gone over by Tac-Ord with a few mods but much closer to stock. I'm thinking of doing the same type of thing with the closer to stock version .... few different barrels for different applications. Nothing touches the 870 for versatility.

Three different barrels with different sight setups and a couple different stock sets with the 12 ga ammo options covers about anything you could ever want to do with a pump.

Notice the word express never came up.

I would say the best pump under $800 is the 870 and over $800 also the 870

Best beater shotgun is mossberg. You have buy a mossberg or maverick and beat the crap out of it and extra barrels for 125 bucks. Remington brands are not the company they were 10 years ago and never will be. If you want quality a benelli or browning is alot better gun than remington.
