I am think of getting a Enfield 1853 or 1858 and wondering is there any difference between the Pedersoli and Parker Hale. Is one better than the other or are they pretty even?

The Parker-Hale was made in England, in Birmingham, using the original sealed-pattern tool gauges as used by the Enfield small-arms factory that built the original rifle. P-H stopped making them back in the late 1980s, and then disposed of the remnants of the factory to Euroarms in the early 1990s.

Pedersoli make fine firearms to a number of standards of workmanship.

Parker-Hale only knew one standard of workmanship. In all my days I never heard of any of their replications going back to the factory as being of inferior standard in any way, which is why their guns are still so desirable today.

Do yourself a favour, and look for a Parker-Hale version.

I have had many of the Parker Hale rifles and only two of the Pedersoli I feel the quality of the PH are better than the Pedersoli. I never broke any springs or parts on my Parker Hales but did on the pedersoli. That is the main reason that I sold them. They are hard to find parts for and you will be waiting for a while for parts. The Ph rifles and carbine/Musketoon do come up for sale every once and a while.

Differently to what?

From what i've read late version PH were contracted out to EA and still stamped PH. Just curious if there is an easy way the tell them apart or what the proof marks look like.

My Parker Hale came in :D

Its 100% British made too, a few little rust spots on the outside but the bore is mint. Stock is little dry, but some linseed will solve that :)

Nice. Mine has become a hobby within itself- collecting supplies, sourcing lead, finding molds, casting Minies- more of an obsession than a hobby, you'll have a whole new skill set and sense of pride to go with it.
