what would you fill the gap with?

I'm kind of wondering something similar.

I have several rifles that all basically do the same thing in the 270/7x57 lass and a 300 Win Mag.

Don't need a .458 but a buddy has some larger bores for sale and i was also wondering about a 338 or 9.3x63 range of rifle.

I realize I have something to cover everything I need. Even when I go to Africa. Big bores are just to fun to not own one or 5. This is gun nutz after all. I enjoy buying and using a variety of rifles and calibers. Some stay others go. I've had 11 30/06s in the last 3 or so years. Love the caliber just never hung onto a rifle so chambered.
I like to hear what others use but I also like to be different. A thread like this is open to everything from pistol carbines to lever guns to bolt action big bores. Even wildcat cartridges.
Owning and using a variety insures I don't get bored quickly.

.338 WM, the old new king

Also curious; do you have dies and reamers for the 25/45? PM me when your project is done and I will buy them if you're selling...

Clearly you are missing a good medium, and the big case .375s are the best of the breed. A .378 Weatherby is a nice little rifle, but of you object to the price of Weatherby brass, a .375 Ultra will cover 95% of the same ground at half the price. That said, there is much to like about the .338 bore, particularly when paired with cartridges of similar capacity. In either case, its tough to argue against 300 gr bullets that shoot as flat as a 7mm magnum.
