Hunting in the Yukon non resident

first thing i will do is asking your cousin to build points for the draw on special guiding and then he will be able to guide you for bison caribou or moose.
the time is over where grizzly was on the menu and now this is only moose or caribou or bison. wolf or black bear can be added ...

goat well there is one draw for resident and another place for non resident for guided by outfitter and there is a remote place to go ...

as a resident: caribou is giving a lot of attraction with barren and woodland (we called them mountain) and they can be find as high as sheep and they swim well also. but seems our moose attract of lot of attention too ...

now let s talk about the rifle you are bringing in ...

300 win mag would be the rifle I was going to bring. And my bow.

I was at one time thinking of moving to the Yukon it is one of my Favorite places that and Southern Alaska
But I was just givin a Trapline in Nakoon park now I have to build cabins and trails poor me lol

We hunt most things with 300Wm or 30-06, personally. I've lugged around 338s for bison. But I have my 308 ready for moose also.
Edit - I also go nowhere without a shorty 12g... Just a personal thing..

Is there any certain card I need for Yukon, here in NS we have our wildlife resources and I just had to get me WIN card for Alberta to go this fall after elk. Also for those who hunt Yukon what grain bullet would you recommend for a 300 WM? Just trying to get as many different opinions as I can before going.

Read the Regs for more exact answer,
you dont need proof of hunting safety course if born before 1986.. So when you purchase a non resident hunting permit, just need photo ID (If I remember correctly) and they will give you a written permit.
I use 180gr for almost everything here. Have some heavier ones for the Bison. We dropped a moose the other day with 180s.

if you are born before 1987 nothing. after you will need to provide a proof that you followed HEED somewhere.

you should be good with 180 grains ... but more important what your rifle is shooting good. when do you plan to come? unless you have been nominated by your cousin on the draw and
him selected you have the time for the preparation .... ask him to build points ...

Wont be going until either next year or possibly the year after. Will be in touch with cousin about the points for the draw and a bit more info. This is very new now just started talking about it last month still have a lot to read up on and figure out.
