GF needs a grouse gun

I suggest you trim the stock and add a grind to fit recoil pad so the gun fits her.
this gun will be loud, so ear protection is a must![/URL]

We have electronic hearing protection and I plan on fitting it to the perfect LOP with a very good recoil pad for her.

She loves to shoot her handgun. She loves to plink open sights with her 357 lever. She has never shot any animal before so I'm kind of treating her as a young "at heart" shooter.

Step one is the gun arriving and making it fit her perfectly with recoil management.

Then getting her hooked on the thrill of the chase LOL

I picked up a 20 g browning silver hunter semi auto for my daughter and GF they both are small framed and very light (cant say weight or ill be on the couch LOL). They can handle the recoil and get follow up shots easily. I am not sure but I think they come in a youth model as well with a shorter length of pull but may be a bit heavier then 5 lbs. Heck i even started using it for small game last year and love it.

Re Grouse shotgun;
I have shot hundreds of grouse with a 410 shotgun.
I always use 3" shells with number 7-1/2 shot or #6 shot.
Anyways I have a Rossi 410 single shot shotgun.
It weighs about 4-1/2 lbs.
it is very tight and is a real grouse getter.
Asking $150.00
PM me if you are interested.
Thanks Colombe

He already purchased a gun.

Bought Sinsinati 20 gauge pump

All good on my end

You guys are overthinking it. Its a grouse.

Its hard to beat a POS Cooey single shot.

Not quite...

1. It's for is GF... Therefore a "girl", so it's got to be nice.
2. From my point of view, a GF/Wife that wants to hunt is worth her weight in gold. So it would be worth it (to me) to invest in a nice shotgun
3. While a Cooey single shot would do the work, I wouldn't use it, so I wouldn't want my wife/GF to use one

I got her a great looking wood shotgun and now she doesn't like the wood LOL. So now I need to refinish the wood in a black stain because she likes black, but doesn't like black plastic. Length of pull has to be 11.5" because she wants it to be super small. 14.5" barrel? Why is that so long?

Her hunting gear had to have pink trim on it. Her pants had to be yoga style. Her gloves are a medium because the small were just a bit tight on her gel nails.

Now she's pissed about a 20 gauge because it has a kick, so I ordered an African gun recoil pad to make sure once I do the length of pull its like hugging a marshmallow.

Would have been cheaper to take her out for dinner every night for the entire hunting season.

That being said once she pulls the trigger and gets her first grouse it'll be worth it.

Took her out today

She was especially pissy for some reason. I fired the Sinsinati twice to test it. She said it's too loud I don't want that. We packed up and went home

Guess she's my bird dog now

Stick with it man. For the most part, reasonably cater to what she needs for now so she will feel comfortable.

Bite your tongue as best you can, let her have the black & pink and be as patient as possible. Know it's not easy sometimes.

Good luck with your girl. Hopefully she will come around.

Sounds like a headache. She wants something to shoot that is light, small, black - but not plastic, doesn't make a loud noise, and doesn't kick.

How about this? Just needs black paint.

And if blood bothers her:

Come on, he needs encouragement & understanding, he does not need us to be smart asses..

We all know girls can be a real PITA sometimes.

Give it a bit more time and if it's not for her, it's not for her.

Forgive me, that post rather came across as quite funny! You haven't been reading Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" now, have you? :)

IMHO, it may be a better idea to take her to as many gun shops possible and let her handle a variety of youth models but the more conventional type of shotguns. For example, there was mention of the youth model H&R Pardner Compact with 24in barrel that might work very well (if the fit is right) and it becomes available in something such as 20 or 28ga. Felt recoil or muzzle blast won't be much of an issue when coupled with 7/8oz or 3/4oz loads respectively. Admittedly, that isn't a repeater and I simply brought up the model as an example. However, for shooting stationary birds something like that will perform equally well and will be simple to handle in the field.

Unfortunately, unlike most other colorful girly attractions such as dresses, shoes, purses etc :), firearm design is also heavily influenced by the laws of Physics and the sooner she is able to come to terms with that will better enhance her outdoors experience via the use of proper sporting tools. Best of luck in your quest - hope you find a suitable solution.

Dump her ass. She sounds needy as ####.

My wife is smaller sized and one of the few guns of mine that she does enjoy shooting is my Ithaca 900 in 20g. I was going to trade it one time and when she heard about it, I was told that is the one gun I cannot get rid of - it's hers. The barrel is long but it is really light and the long recoil action has minimal recoil. They aren't expensive, so strip the stock and make it whatever colour you like.
