I finally got around to making a homemade blackpowder lube concoction. Beeswax, tenderflake and canola oil (5-4-1). Haven't shot it yet, but it sure stays on fingers in a tenacious fashion. I'll blast off a bunch of them today and see how the fouling goes.

Anyway, what's the easiest way to make hollow lube sticks for the 450 sizer? I sort of massaged some into the reservoir, then said screw that and reheated a bit in the microwave and poured it in. That worked, but may not be super convenient moving forward.

On a related matter, any ideas on how to get the pyrex measuring cup I cooked it in clean again? The only reason I'm still alive is my wife hasn't woken up yet. It stays on glass every bit as tenaciously as fingers.

Give her breakfast in bed, coffee, and step out to CT to buy a new one?

Try Goo Gone. Use the green microfiber cleaning scrubbies. Good luck!

I make lube sticks with holes for my star by using 1 inch pvc with a small dowel run through holes drilled in the caps
I agree melting and pouring is way simpler but I like to have the sticks on hand.

If you have an old pot you can boil water and dip your tools in until the residual gunk melts off.

I have a modified caulking gun I use to push the lube sticks out of the tube once it sets up. Works good.

I've somewhere seen a fancy mold for making lube sticks. Not sure if they are sold anywhere.

A hole saw was used to score a ring in a thick piece of wood and a chunk of pvc pipe fit into it then a dowel placed in the hole in the center.

Putting it in the freezer might make it shrink and harden enough to get out if it's that sticky.

I remember Popsicle moods when I was a kid. Maybe a dozen chambers that were tapered so you could get them out. It does seem to me that I wasnt 100% on not pulling the sticks out during the extraction process. I waondef if they still make them?

In other news, the beeswax , tender lake and canola oil concoction seems to work fairly well. Well enough to annoy the heck out of the white buffalo anyway.

made mine out of copper pipe 1" with a 3/8" of copper soldered in the bottom cap. Then drilled holes about 1" deep in a 2X4 to hold them up right.
Let cool pull out the 3/8" pipe and push out with a dowel that fits in the 1" copper.

How do you insert the factory lube sticks. if they have been in a warm place I cannot seem to get them out of the tube.
Maybe stick them in fridge for a while?
Come to think of it that's how it worked in the shooting range reloading room in northern Quebec as there was very little heat in there at -40 and lower.
As for making them never tried. but two tubes the right size one inside the other. and welded to a round plate. but that still leaves getting them out of the mould. Let us know how it works out
