So let's say I have a 3.5in semi shotgun and I put an extension tube that allows me to fit 5 shells in the tube and almost a 6th, such as it will come in more than halfway through but not entirely.
Im asking because doing so would allow me to fit 7 2.75in shells in the tube.
This feels like playing with the laws, at the sand pit people go to shoot clays here what if a gamewarden comes and check on my gun? Would he imply i'm being a smartass or do you think he'd be okay with that?

Always good to ask.

It's not playing with the law. You're following the law in that you can only fit a maximum of 5 rounds of the ammunition the gun/magazine was designed for (i.e. what is stamped on the barrel - 3.5" shells). The fact you can fit more of shorter length shells doesn't contravene the law the way it is written.

Don't take our word for it. You can check it out on the CFP website or call.

Some people who load their own shotgun rounds make shorter 2.5" shells. Wouldn't make sense they have to plug or change their mag tube every time they make short length rounds. :)

As far as Federal law 5 rounds max in a auto shotgun or rifle . No exceptions of u have a auto loader that holds more than 5 rounds and mr rcmp comes a long call your lawyer

5 round max for what ever length of shell stamped on barrel---if 3.5 then under law u r allowed 5 3.5inchers---if someone makes 2 inch shells and fits 8 that is irrelevant--always by what is stamped on barrel u can go with longest shell fitting 5--called cfo--so heard it first hand

For the case of a semi auto shotgun, this is not entirely true. A gun that holds 5 rounds of 3.5" will hold at least 6 if not 7 2.75" shells and thats perfectly legal.

What if the shotgun is stamped as shown, and you are found with six or seven rounds in it?

I love the "grey area" of ... what if I'm truly not hunting and just walking around the bush/hiking with a shotgun for protection and it happens to be hunting season ?
Gotta love the automatically guilty approach.

How did u guys get your pal it's 5 rounds regeadless of cartridge length . That is the law !

you are wrong.
if you have a semi auto shotgun thats chambered for 3 1/2 inch it will take five shotgun cartridges
now this is what it is designed for (this is the important part)
you can get in more 2 1/2 and 2 inch cartridges and not be breaking the law as the shotgun was designed to take 3 1/2 inch

read the links i posted up

if your shotgun is chambered in 3.5" its 5 rounds of 3.5" or 7 of 2.75". Isnt it the same principle that we use to have 13 9mm in a 40 s&w magazine ?

Just asking here, gotta love pump action for the simplicity :p

In BC at least, there is no limit when loaded with single projectiles (slugs). So here, if its hunting season and a CO happens upon you with a shotty full of slugs you wont have to worry about charges related to birds.

Here's an idea...
Let's keep on talking out loud about this sort of thing...

Maybe if there's enough chatter someone in authority will give us an answer no one will like.

Whatever happened to shutting the f*** up and minding your own business?

How's that been working for you so far?
What is it you're trying to hide anyway, that we abide the law?...

THE HORSE IS DEAD AND BURIED A LONG TIME AGO AND PROBABLY ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE EVERY TIME THIS GROUNDHOG DAY TOPIC COMES UP!! This has been answered way to many times in earlier threads. People are just to lazy to to look. Now move on to something useful.
