This all depends on what you plan to use your rifle mostly for. For a DMR style ( your 16.5" may be a bit short for this), you can mount a traditional scope with a bipod. For a 3-gun rifle, you may use a 1-3, 1-4x illuminated reticle. For a CQB rifle, a RDS or holo sight. For a dual purpose rifle, add a magnifier.Another question if you don't go with iron sights whats the optic of choice?
Beowulf mags = more shooting and less reloading !
Alexander Arms are good, havent tried others

Anyone know of Canadian vendor currently holding Beowulf mags?

I was thinking of going vortex as i get a very good discount on them, either a red dot with a magnifier or a strike eagle 1-6 for just bunch shooting
Nothing wrong with Vortex. Good price, good warranty. A lot of people use them on ARs. If you can score the optics for a good discount, get both! Then you have options!
As for PCV mags, i wouldn't go that route. I'm not sure about the Gen 2s but their Gen 1 mags have horrible feed lips. They bulge and spread making it hard to insert into the rifle quickly and rounds pop out when loaded full.
Yeah i work at a wholesale sports so vortex is usually the brand of choice for optics haha and i liked the idea of the beowulfs but i heard they have feeding problems i was going to go with the atr pistol mags as mentioned before or would it be better to go with metal LAR ones
Metal mags are the way to go if you are contemplating mags that hold 10+ rds.
I would use Ranger plates or Magpuls if you are carrying your mags in any type of Kydex mag holder. They can be slippery to pull out under pressure otherwise! Plastic mags don't have this problem.
If you can score original AA Beo mags, they are well worth it and have no issues in my experience. They are very expensive though!
how much do those generally go for?
Not sure. They were around $80 each 2 years ago. I don't even know if the original ones are available here anymore. Rusty Wood, as mentioned above, has Beo mags but I think they are the IMI ones. Check the site.
Yup! Those are it! Prices have come down, I see!
