Any TNW ASR fanboys here?

Mike, Given that yours has been beaten and verbally abused it's whole life....... $500 would probably not get bumped.
Never took you as a Fanboy that's for sure...... :)

No failure's to eject or extract with mine.
FTE with no other description or info is hard to diagnose, but if I was having a problem I'd have no qualms calling TNW about it.

Quick question, has anyone been having fte issue with their 9mm asr??

yes I have. Read all my posts that you can find in my profile. I even installed a new ejector and extractor that TNW shipped to me bcuz North Sylva is fkin useless. Even with the new extractor/ejector the thing still stove pipes. Contacted TNW again and showed them some pictures. They are working on a way of sending me an entirely new bolt and charging handle.

124gr blazers, cheap stuff. Actually it happens more often with the cheap ammo, but it does happen with my reloads as well just not as much.
Basically the spent causing gets caught by the bolt, with the mouth of the case facing into the action.
Im going to try to run it with better ammo next time and see what happens.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Mine comes loose as well, I believe the detent pressure can be increased, and I read of a guy that had success by wrapping some Teflon tape on the threads..... I've just been hand tightening it when changing mags if needed.

Tried increasing detent pressure already, as low as it can go without fully locking the barrel in, failed.
Ive been using teflon tape and it works but its slightly messy when i remove the barrel, the threads just shreds the tape. Needs to be reapplied after taking the barrel off a few times.
Im going to see if i can find a thin rubber o ring that i can use as a friction bushing.

I figured the Teflon might not be a permanent solution...... :) Does the detent engage earlier then before, on mine the detent plunger starts to be audible right as the collar is almost tight.
Sometimes I have noticed that threads that had been previously locked with blue loctite and are now gummed up, have more resistance. Other then deforming a couple of strategic threads, I'd say some sort of sticky heavy grease might help? Probably a good idea to put something between the detent plunger and the holes in the collar as well to increase the friction there..... maybe scuff up the detent or scar the holes as well to increase the bite? The holes that the detent mates with seem a bit weak to me, a more angular shaped detent and some straight grooves instead of round might be a better design?
I will investigate mine a bit more and get back to you........ eventually...... :)

Have you picked TNW's brain? It seems like a somewhat common issue so they likely have some ideas.

Maybe a thin coat of varnish on the threads or even black spray paint, something to gum up the interface a bit.

Thread sealant instead of teflon? Experiment with how many threads to seal so it's not too difficult to remove but stops the vibration of shooting that is loosening the connection.

I'd let the thread sealer dry on the collar and then try it.... although a thick grease might do the trick as well......

Molasses? :)

Can-down those are all great ideas, i too will experiment more with the lock nut.
On a different note today i finally had time to take the asr to the range. I mentioned earlier about ejection issues. I unscrewed the buffer tube 2 turns. Got out to the range to test it out, and it worked flawlessly. Fired 100 rounds without a single stoppage. Planning to go to the range this sat for further testing.

lol, what an odd thing. I screwed my buffer tube in all the way to solve some of my ejection issues.... screwing it out made it much worse. The biggest thing was the switch to heavier gr bullets... no FTE since I moved up from 115gr...

The instructions are bad, do you guys know how to tighten the upper and lower back together mine have come loose?

As for the barrel I use frog lube paste on the threads and don't seem to have an issue with the barrel loosening after even 200 rounds...
