Got the new CZ452 Varmint out finaly!

so i picked up a CZ452 Varmint month or so ago and took it out for a quicky initial function shoot but have been waiting to have a day to myself and get out under nice weather and spend a couple hours with the gun and really get it dialed in and running.
plus i wanted to get a good 250-300 rounds down the barrel in one sitting to season that barrel up good.

well, today was the day.
a nice +26 out with a whisper of wind.

damn it was nice.

set up and zero'd in the scope and then starting shooting 5rd groups.
very nice gun.
really happy with the purchase.
i want to take it out side by side with my Savage BTVLSS and shoot them both and see which one i like better.

funny thing happened though while i was shooting.
i saw a wasp on the frame of the pallet i was shooting.
i thought to myself..... "self, i wonder if we could shoot the wings off the pesky wasp from here"

and i did.

i was shooting just normal CCI Blazer ammo for the this break in, nothing fancy, nothing high end.

we can call it wind or we can call it break in or we can call it cheap ammo but it was probably me, haha!

Nice shooting for the first outing it will tighten up and another ammo may tell another story.Get to know the gun and get in the zone.
Beware there may be a post or two about bore inspection and chambers bedding pillars et all. It is way to soon to dive into that just shoot the daylights out of it and keep on smiling seems you are having fun already.
When it doesn't get better than you like then make changes one at a time.There is lots of room to play when the time comes and develop your cleaning as you seem fit.There is lots of web info on rimfire cleaning.
Again keep shooting it looks good for your part so far.

Wow...this thread was a HUGE "deja vu" moment~literally wondered how someone got my bench out of my garage! :)

Nice gun, great shooting...mine loves Blazer too! Congrats on the new rifle, I miss mine though. Still parked in AB waiting for 2017 gopher season. :) I think it's barrel might still be cooling down from my gopher trip in the spring of this year. It sure seemed to like that job!

it was probably your bench i copied!
without going back into the threads to look someone posted a pic of their bench while they where shooting and i was like.... "fack' i like that!"
so much so i made a left handed and a right handed one, haha!
makes going out to the sand pit a lot more comfy!

i put a DIP rail (11mm to picatinny rail 0 MOA extended rail) on it and it works great.
rings..... just some cheap rings from the LGS - high rings to clear the bolt with the 50mm scope.
Scope is a Cabela's Pine Ridge 6-18x50mm, ive been running those on all my rime-fires last couple years. really like them, good bang for the buck.
 
It sounds like there was a drizzle of 452 Varmints that made their way to Canada recently.. I just got one too!

I guess the old saying, "If you ask the right person the right question at the right time you'll get the right answer" holds true in this case. I asked my dealer if there was any chance of getting a 452 Varmint, you see the result.
That's a nice looking rifle you've got!
If it'll shoot Blazer that well you've got a winner on your hands.

This is actually two flies at 50 yards.
The investigative abilities of the 2nd was challenged by the poor choices of the first.

Regarding your choice of CCI Blazer, it is acceptable for general shooting but does have flyers.
Just to run a test yesterday, using my BSA Martini at 100 yards, one group of ten Federal Match HV with a rim thickness of 0.039 produced a 2.35 group.
Switched to a rim thickness of 0.040 and got a group of 2.05.
Switched to CCI Blazer and it was so bad after 5 rounds the test was terminated.
During the past two weeks tests were conducted using Eley Team (various velocities), Match, Edge, RWS R50, Federal MATCH (RWS), Lapua CenterX.
Right now for match purposes I would lean towards the Eley EDGE at 1066 fps and the R50.
One group with EDGE measured 1.28, and with a sight adjustment and the second group scored 100-6X measured 1.37 (with one click added during the group to raise the group closer to the X-ring).

After pillar bedding my CZ455, tests with Eley match grades was poor. Lapua CenterX was the best and both rifles are producing sub 1.0" groups at 100 yards.

FFS now the plethora of Best gun for Wasp defense is about to be unleashed !!!
Great shooting by the way and am sure the gun will tighten up when you find the ammo you like.
Mine have enjoyed American Eagle hollow points for plinking and gophers and all around fun.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the link of the dead wasp...how cool is that ??!!
Kinda reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies where they are shooting flys out towards the front gate ;)
