Plastic or steel

I am a steel kind of guy as most my handguns are steel. That being said I recently bought a Glock 17 and I REALLY like it. Guilty pleasures...

Definitely like the steel...look and weight are all pluses for me. Having said that, a good Hogue grip is a definite nice touch.

Being a machinist, I think there is something nice about the way a nicely made metal slide slides on a metal frame with little play (like in high-end 1911's, Sphinx, Tanfoglio, etc.), but I have no problem with plastic frames. Most of my handguns are plastic framed guns. They're lighter, and I think polymer guns look cool.

I can't honestly say I have a preference..I too run steel, polymer and aluminum....I love them all equally...that said...I have more calibers in 1911 than any other...

I like a steel 1911 for my non-large hands. The heft doesn't hurt recoil reduction. However, I do shoot Glocks better in a tactical environment. I'm still waiting for Glock to release a Glock 17 or Glock 19 in single stack. That would be the perfect pistol for me. Anybody listening in Austria???

Have you tried Cz...for fitting the hand I've found none finer....

Cz75-pre b....the most cloned pistol ever I believe( could be wrong ) great trigger, sa/da, beautifully crafted... Maybe a sp-01 shadow...certainly with the slim aluminum grips.....near perfect pistol....both recommended...try one...or both..

I could be wrong, but I think the 1911 is probably the most cloned pistol ever

As for OP. I love the looks of stainless with rosewood grips. I prefer the extra weight of steel for shooting. However I have no issue with plastic on guns. They haven't had any issues making pickup beds out of it for the last 10 years.

If I could carry, it'd be polymer. Since I can't, I like heavy recoil absorbing steel for the range. It looks nicer too.

I don't mind plastic as long as it's not in high wear areas with high tolerances.

I have to agree with this ^

although I didn't mind shooting friends S&W M&P or the Walther PPQ!

The Cz75 is listed with a width of 1.4". The SP-01 is listed at 1.46". Thin grips would make it a bit thinner. My current Glock, which I wish was a bit thinner, is 1.18". So I'm pretty sure that the Cz's would be worse. Glock's single stack .380 measures in at .94". That would make me smile.

I also find the CZ's a bit thick, Beretta's with the vertec frame have a grip width of 1.3 and the straight back strap with no palm swell makes them feel much thinner and have a significant shorter trigger reach.
