Hey there I'm looking into the night force nsx 5.5-22 for a RPR in 6.5 creed. I notice cabelas has them for about 2600-2900. Wondering if there's somewhere else I should be looking for a better price.

My goal is only target shooting and maximum distance as far as space allows is about 800 yards. I'm wondering if I would be okay with just a vortex pst. Money isn't a huge issue it just seems more than I'm willing to pay at the moment. Hell id even buy a used one to soften the price.

Any thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks

I get my Nightforce scopes from hirschprecision.com but prices seem to have skyrocketed in the last 2 years unfortunaly.

Vortex is always a gamble :) Go with Sightron if you want a nice cheaper optic. I never had issues with any of my sightrons.

Shop around have seen decent ee deals know the features you want and buy those, I paid 1900 new 3 years ago 5.5-22×56 20moa turrets no zero stop, I'm not a vortex fan, have a bushnell ffp 6-24 I love and a dmr 3.5-21 both are great and have more features for less.

what's already been said.

For $2k you're looking at a used NXS.

I had a Viper PST, I wouldn't buy another one.

Look at Sightron SIII or I just picked up a new Burris XTR II and have been happy with it thus far, good bang for the buck.

I've bought and sold a few 5.5-22 nxs over the last few years at $1700-1900. At 2600-2900 I wouldn't even think about it. I picked up a couple ATACRs f2 for $2500 and there a great option. If you want something at the $1000 price range the PSTs are ok but I would give a good look at a sightron instead.

I'd agree. NSX's are tough to pay 2200 for, they definitely aren't worth 2800.

MUCH better for a little more, or others nearly as good for significantly less.

The NSX is pretty outdated these days. Good, but far from great.

P&D has them at a much better price than Cabelas.

I use a Sightron S3 6-24x LRMOA on my 260 and we shoot from 315y to 920. The scope is very clear and tracking has been dead on when changing from 315-540-720-920y.
A great scope for a great price.

I have both sightron 8x32x56 LRMOA and vortex pst 6x24x50 FFP and I can't see a difference between the two. I really like the vortex, the tracking is spot on and the clicks are pretty crisp.

Is the nxs FFP or is it only the F1 models?

The F1's are the NF first focal models, I don't believe there is a F1 in the NXS, didn't see one listed on their site when I was choosing a scope.
