Good morning all, Is there a source for 1895 Nagants anywhere? One would think that there should be lots of these along with all the other Russian surplus. Or has this boat sailed long ago? Im interested in finding one. What should one look for? (Other than usual condition, indexing etc) Do you like it, hate it? .. Thanks

Sold out for a long time, none coming out Russia they have been destroying them rather than sell them as surplus for a few years now. The ones in Canada are all in collection now and when they come up for sale they go for big money!

They pop up from time to time on the EE unfortunately they are upwards of 500-600 and parts are hard to come across.
I bought one and i must say its a great shooter, really tests your grips strength though and trigger control.
Ammo isnt the cheapest but neat little piece of history and turns heads at the range for sure.

I don't think there's been any imported in 10 years. I remember they sat around for quite awhile as there was no ammo to be had at first, but the prices have gone sky-high in the last few years. I think they're even up to the $300 plus mark in the States, which is about at the point where it becomes questionable whether you'd save any money by importing one through irunguns.
As an actual shooter... well frankly they suck. Spectacularly (12+ lb single action) heavy trigger and a fairly unimpressive cartridge don't make for a ton of fun at the range, but they're great collectors - tons of history and very unique mechanically. I may not shoot mine very often but I'll never sell it!

Well thats good it is a restricted (compared to prohib! before someone jumps on that...lol). I have a Steyr Hahn, So I know about hunting for ammo and brass. I'm mainly interested for collections sake. Heck, some of my rifles I dont think I have ever even shot yet.
Get it flipped to 9 x 19. They eat 9mm Luger like a Fat kid eats smarties. Way fun...still not that accurate, but definitely turn heads at the range.
The Steyr-Hahn I mean.

All you need to get is 9x19 barrel. There is an outfit in Austria making new barrels for Steyr Hahn.
