Whats in your pack??

For the day I take : water, fruit like apple or pear, granola or power bar, food like a sandwich that needs nothing extra like cooking, a couple of emergency items like a very small 1st aid kit and a lighter and never forget your toilet paper and I carry some wet napkins too like the ones you wipe a baby's but with.
I always carry a rifle and a hunting knife so noo need for 1 in the pack.
I try to pack very minimal if I know the area well and living in B.C. I usually have water sources available and someone knows the general area where I am.

Extra batteries

I have different packs depending. My hunting (primarily upland) always has extra ammo, licence, and enough supplies for a minimum overnight stay. This area has no cell service but there is an excellent radio telephone service (Houston, BC, Tower Communications, they rent out equipment) so that is always with me when I head out. If this was not the case the INreach system looks very interesting. Always water and a compass no matter what else I bring. My straight bushwacking pack is fairly basic and my winter pack has a stove and fuel which I do not bother with in summer but always carry a Zippo lighter and tea lights for fire starter. Zippos are a pain because the fuel evaporates through the wick so you use it or lose it but you can flash them up and build a fire over them if you are truly in a bind. My first priority in my bush packs is starting a fire, then water and food. The contents vary with my chosen activity at the time. Of course all of Harley's needs come along for the ride. But that goes without saying because life would be boring without Harley.

- Kershaw knife and sharpener
- 2C Maglite & 2 spare batteries
- Leupold RX-II Rangefinder

the elk hunt im going on this year is a hike in hunt and camp so pack will be different

My go-to pack, usually camping or shooting or just driving through the mountain.

Main pack always has bino's and whatever else I need. Clothes, food, mags/ammo, bic(s),

All of these will contain a GPS, knife/multi tool, rain gear, protein bars, water/Gatorade, rope/cord, wipes, phone, flashlight, headlamp, trail marking tape, lens wipes for scope/binos and pruning shears/saw.
