Your point? Is it forged or billet? Brand?
As I mentioned already not all are this way but some other billet brands are. No big deal.
Its for clearance to eliminate the FA pinch point. Personally I do not like this practice but I will not slam a site sponsor and their product for choosing to fabricate this way. Once the rifle is assembled nobody would even know unless a slick side was used.
Price cannot be beat!!!
Which brands do this? I'm not being snarky, I really want to know.
I've got a few Colt Canada and Colt USA lowers, as well as a PWS lower so I'm going to check it out when I get home.
Here is a MATEN/MEGA lower and Armalite forged upper and you can clearly observe the difference between the FA side that has a notch clearance cut and the off side which is different.

Sorry if I caused any commotion , I had it for sale at $80 shipped, then noticed the odd shape. I then sent the pics to the buyer and he backed out. So I then decided I didn't want to sell a out of spec lower. Now I'll just post more pics of the lower. And yes this is a blemished lower ( without any blemishes to the ceracote). But then blemished ceracote got nothing to do with what I asked. And I'm NOT, trying to blame SFRC for anything . I've had great dealings with them.
That's one beefy looking lower, holy.
NEA didn't make our lowers. It was made that way on purpose.
A few brands that manufacture "billet" receivers have a pronounced ring with sharp edges so the FA side is machined back to eliminate the PINCH POINT or bite that may happen when panic pushing is used.
Please explain how a counterbore in the rear of the threads that accept the buffer tube provide clearance for the forward assist.
Blame for what? The thing is made exactly the way it was intended to be made, and there is nothing about it that would in any way affect performance.[/QUOTE
To some people, and I mean some.......that is not a good enough reason. To lazy to do a bit of research, lets hit the net and #####,find some one to blame, then hang them....Ta Da....self made hero!!!
I will just go back to my corner now and be quiet.

Are you saying that the offset position is normal? All evidence I can find suggests that is not the case.
It's a billet lower, there is no spec. You'll likely find that the left side is much thicker than most lowers.
As mentioned the one side is thinner due to the FA. The fact that they beefed up the other side will have zero impact on function.
I don't think this is the case. The thicker side is an octagon shape and looks perfectly machined. The other side looks as if it was born octagon but was then hacked off. but maybe because the Octagon shape is thicker than others , they needed to remove some matarial from one side.
It doesn't matter, because when you install the buffer tube , it's barely noticeable.
And I sold mine for $50 shipped.
It was on the EE for a week or better, had two people back out when they seen pics. I decided to give someone a deal... No worries though, I just got my CC lower and it's the same on both sides...whew LOLDamn why didn't you place it on EE because people who know about this intended design would have given you the original purchase price. What a waste.
