Winchester or Sako?

I've been looking at a few used rifles, both in 416 RM, first is a Winchester Safari express and the second is a Sako AV Classic. They are both priced within 50 dollars of each other.

Which would you choose and why?

I have a Sako AV Hunter model that was originally a .416 Remington Magnum and subsequently re-barreled to .458 Lott. Excellent factory trigger. Very fine fit-and-finish and very accurate in both calibers. I had the same choice back when I purchased this rifle and decided on the Sako although I like the controlled round feed of the Model 70.

I'd take the Sako, unless you really believe that a "dangerous game" rifle, (the 416 Rem falls in that category) requires a controlled feed action, then get the Winchester.

Not really hung up on CRF, just want to have a 416 RM.

I've been putting in (unsuccessfully) for the BC Bison draw for years now with the intention of buying a 416 if I was drawn....hasn't happened yet so I'm convincing myself (and the wife) if I buy the rifle first it may change my luck on the draw. :)

Got one these in 7mm. liked it enough that I decided it was worth spending 650. for a Ron Smith barrel after the old one crapped. Wouldn't do that for a Winchester, especially the new ones. :)

It would depend a lot on which M70. There's tons of 70s and 80s push-feed nothing guns that I wouldn't want at all at the low end, and the FN mades at the highend that I'll take over practically anything for a pure hunting rifle. Even some of my own that cost two or four times as much. In between, lets just say the quality was mixed at best.

I've always been a fan of M70s, but they haven't made it easy.
 
But a Winchester isn't a Winchester isn't a Winchester. I'm a big Winchester fan but those Sakos are awfully nice too. Which one fits you better?
 
I shot a sako for awhile then switch to Winchester to see what all the hype was about...kept one season and that was it, back to Sako for good.

I don't have anything against sako... I'm just a Winchester fan. I'm not a sharpshooter by any means... But I have shot a lot of rifles, and I do ok... I have seen very few that shoot better than my model 70. At least in my hands. And a lot of those rifles have been far more expensive than my little ol average joe's Winchester :)
...with that being said, I'll probably get a sako sometime. I like having a little of every brand
