I'm having an issue with my SKS I just picked up. When attempting to open a bolt after dry firing the firearm, the bolt will not open. The bolt is still in the locked position. After pulling the charging handle a couple times in attempt to open the bolt, the bolt finally pops free from being locked and the bolt will open.

Simply put. The bolt stays in the locked position after dry firing and the bolt won't open.

Anyone had this issue before or have an idea what the issue is?

Have you taken it apart and cleaned the firing pin and bolt internals since getting it. it may have had a lot of corrosive ammo through it uncleaned before coming into your possession? Harold

Not sure how new you are to SKS's, but it may just be the extra resistance from the hammer against the bolt after dry firing. When you #### after dry firing you are over coming the spring tension of both the hammer spring and return spring.

Did you fire it?
If no go shoot it first

Its probably because I couldn't explain it well enough for you to understand. When the bolt is in the locked position, it pushes down a spring that engages the trigger group to fire. One you fire the rifle, the spring is supposed to push the bolt back up and out of its locked position. This was simply not happening and after dry firing the bolt was stuck in the locked position. I pulled the dust cover off so I could see what's happening. Once the bolts been attempted to be open a few times. The bolt will finally pop out of the locked position and operate normally.

Doesn't matter anymore anyways as I've already figured out the issue. Was just a trigger linkage issue.

Thanks for the input.
