Hi all!

Currently have a canadian edition 22wmr 455 and love it ! I had a really nice 452 varmint but didnt needed it as I dont target shoot and found it bulky for the field.

Now looking to get the american in 452 but noticed I can get the beech wood only and not walnut like in the USA but the 455 does come with the walnut.. :(

So now Im kinda lost in to which one to get as I do prefer walnut but the 452 does have 2 lugs..

Any help to decide ?

Thanks

The American in the beech stock is likely among the last new 452 A's that are available. It seems CZ has not shipped any newly-made CZ 452 Americans in beech or walnut to the New World for a while. You will be able to buy a new 455 A in walnut for years to come. You can't say that about the beech stocked 452 American.

how does one tell the difference between the 2 woods?

what is this one?
its my 452 Varmint, i have no idea the differences between woods.

I sold my 455 American in 22lr about 2 years ago and wanted to replace with a 452 American in walnut. I did what Ben has suggested. It took me about 6 months to find one that was bnib/unshot so be patient. Nothing wrong with the beech version either; I find that CZ beech is more ding resistant than walnut.
I have had more luck with 452s than 455s so I wouldn't buy or recommend another 455 regardless how CZUB dresses them up.

I ordered a 452 American in beech wood and now have a problem with finding a good scope and rings.

I am now not sure whether the dovetail is 11 mm or 3/8" since it is a 452 American?

Looking for a scope that is not too big and heavy since I plan to use both for target and hunting.

Scope recommendation very much welcome and where to buy along with rings if known? Thanks.

The 452 American has 3/8" dovetail grooves. Warne 7.3/22 rings are good and come in high and medium and won't break the bank at about $36. Other choices include Burris, Leupold, Talley etc. A scope with an adjustable objective is desirable. For hunting and target a variable scope that goes up to 12 to 16 magnification might be considered. What is your budget, scope-wise?

Thanks Grauhanen, 12 to 16 scope with AO that is not heavy would be great. I don't have a set budget but hope to find something that is not very expensive and can be obtained (ITAR). Looking forward for your recommendations.

Nice pics !

Do you have a matte or polished receiver ?

Sorry for the late reply...

Mine have the polished received.
It now wear a hot blued/machined trigger guard and it it was expensive as #### but it looks awesome !
It is also fully upgrated with DIP parts, Yodave trigger, etc...

I really like this rifle. this winter I will be looking to find a nice gloss scope and rings combo.

interesting that every model seems to flip flow in the sizes of dovetail.

I was reading various postings on forums and many got it wrong for the 452 American.

Now I am thinking about a Leupold VX1 3-9x40 or a VX1 4-12x40 or a Vortex 3-7X32 Crossfire ... and I would prefer walnut stock but none to be had up here.
