Why shouldn't I buy the Redfield Revolution at $250?

Looking to put a scope on my T3 Lite .270 for weekend whitetail in Saskatchewan.

I can't decide on scopes, and I've narrowed it down to a few in the <$600 range (most 400-500).

Two local retailers have Redfield Revolution 3-9X40 on for $250. My next alternative is the VX-2, but the extra $200+ can buy a lot of ammo. Is there any reason to not get the Redfield? Would I notice the difference going to a higher $$ scope? How about warranty?

Redfield (the name) was purchased by Leupold 3-4 yrs ago.

Warranty is Leupold warranty..... So it's pretty good! As Leupold says "the best warranty you will never need".

The Redfield line is on par with the VX3 line, made side by side in the same factory.

I'm a big fan of the revolution 4-12x40 accu-range (no longer in production). I have 7 rifles wearing one, and when I found out it was discontinued, I bought 5 from cabelas as they were on clearance..... This was just 6 weeks ago!

Cabelas Canada? How much were they 6 weeks ago? Looks like they have stock now at $420.

$297.... Iirc. I bought the Regina store out of stock!

I spend most of my "gun money" at a local g-store, not one of the "big boxes". The owner told me he can't get them anymore, discontinued. A week later, on clearance at Cabelas (it was in a flyer).

The flyer said "clearance" too iirc.

Maybe I was fed a line, but I have all the hunting scopes I'll need for the foreseeable future! (And the price was good too!)

I put one on my savage axis .223 when i got it years ago . Also got it for $250 ish , great scope for the money . I also got a burris E1 3-9x40 that was great for around $250 .

I'm sure you meant to say VX-1 line. The Redfields are excellent scopes for the money and are essentially a VX-1 with a slightly less durable outside finish.

I've had a few and wouldn't hesitate to buy another should the need arise.

I have a 4x12x40mm Revolution with a duplex I got during the same sale. It's for sale if you're interested, as it didn't fit my rings/action. LNIB at $275 shipped! Asking for what i paid for it.

Definitely the VX-1 line. I have couple VX-3's, and I have a redfield revolution on one of my rifles... Great scope for the money. I see no problem with them.

Yep threw mine onto a Savage Axis .223 as well and it has been there for a few years now.

First was mounted on a Marlin 1894 but then moved onto a bolt gun.

Paid $250-300ish years ago for it and not ONE issue at all and it has been mounted on everything from .22's, mosins and shotguns.

Would buy another in a heart beat but with more magnification, I currently have the 3-9x but would love a little more.

I have magnification appropriate Redfields on my most used rifles, and am in the process of swapping the others over as time permits, great glass for less cash!

We buy hundreds of that one model every year to get them at a discount but we are down to a handful; literally and no more until March 2017 and wedon't know the price of them for then yet.
