Over the years, Ruger has variously fitted their SA revolvers with grips of hard rubber, then walnut, then laminated rosewood, hard rubber again, and now also also what they describe as "hardwood".
This wood seems rather dull in the photos, not like walnut.
So, does anyone have any idea what this wood is?
Does it seem to be just plainly finished, or is it resin-impregnated, or what?

Ruger single action used to have a grip maker by the name of "Lett Grips" make them for them, but has since went out of business. They in my view were much nicer than what is used now, but it is what it is.

They now use laminated Rosewood & polymer mostly, from a company called "Altamont Grips" but there are many other good grip makers to help us with that need.

I have purchased some from Cary Chapman in California. This guy makes some of the nicest grips you will ever see. Use google to find "clccustomgrips.com"

Thanks for your reply. I like Ruger's laminated rosewood grips. There is a set on my New Bearcat.
But the Blackhawk grips on the website are not these.
They are a rather plain looking wood.
Replacement grips are always an option I guess, but I would be happy with the factory rosewood if they were so equipped, or a set of nice black walnut.
