First shot drilled the upper leg bones just below the shoulder blades, not too happy with the 250gr accubond in that respect, it's blown apart and bent. Did a wonderful job of killing, heart was in shreds, but I lost a lot of meat in there. Bone and lead fragments just everywhere. The second shot was entirely unnecessary but I wanted to make sure he stayed on dry land, it entered the ribs and lodged in the far side shoulder meat, not a bad mushroom. Pretty happy with the killing power of this thing, nice to be able to anchor a huge bull like this when he's within 20m of the water! I hope I never kill one bigger, could barely get the quarters into the boat, not a job I recommend solo!

Don't remember cycling the bolt, so it was that smooth haha. The irons on that rifle are real nice. I think I'm going to keep it that way.

Thanks for sharing with us, terrific pictures !
Can you tell us what you are using for powder under that bullet ?
Oh, and congrats on filling the freezer.

Gotta say, I'm more than a little envious. Every time I see pics like that it reminds me of how badly I need to get out of Ontario.

Any pics of the bullets? I've got some of these loaded up, and I'm always interested in seeing how bullets perform on game. If you don't like the Accubonds, you should give the Woodleighs a try. If you're going to restrict yourself to open sights, were it me, I would stick to the 285 grainers running at about 2450. I doubt you would miss the flatter trajectory over iron sight distances.

Beauty bull! And, I have a Nosler M48 Outfitter in 35 Whelen. Picked up some Nosler 225 grain Partitions for it.

Only shot a bear with it so far & that was with a 225 grain factory Accubond, worked well... It's my moose/bear gun.

Cheers
Jay
P.S. My cousin is in Aklavik, he's a teacher.
