I know for pistol there is a power factor that needs to be met. I admit I havent read all the rules yet for the various divisions, but is there a velocity I should be aiming for with my AR reloads?

Thanks

I load 55 gr bullets at about 2700 fps. They cycle just fine and are accurate at 100 yards. The reduced velocity reduces violence in cycling and helps me to shoot faster. Might be easier on the rifle, too.

so its really just a matter of accuracy and reliability. Good to know. My gun was cycling rounds fine at 2400fps, but it was only 1, so Ill bump it up a bit faster and see if I see an accuracy change

Was the chrono 1 rd? I do 10 to get a better average. Don't rely on the manual for velocity.

I've been loading 55 gr campros under 22 gr 8208 xbr for cqb uses. Not quite sure what my fps is, but I'd assume it'll be fairly low?

But my double taps are extremely controllable and I'm using least amount of powder possible.

I had a bit of trouble reaching 200m tho. I was zeroed at 50m which is same as 200 with normal ammo. Thought I could hold center and hit. But no I had to aim on top of the target just to hit at 200m.

My reloads are 69gr smk's going about 2700 to 2800 fps. Can't remember the exact speed. I found, for my rifle, any load at max pressure opened the groups up quite a bit. If I backed off to lower velocities, my accuracy results were pretty good, for an ar. I did try the black hills 77gr factory load, and my groups were about 1.5 inch mark. When I did reloads with the 77gr smk with 22grs of varget, I got a .46 group. That was from a stag 3g.

2100fps with Campro 55gr. Running a JP lightweight carrier, no weighs in buffer and a Wolff 85% buffer spring in a rifle length buffer tube. 18" barrel with rifle length gas system and adjustable gas block.

It's pretty tame.

I also load a modest 77gr SMK load for any steel past 100 just so they can be heard hitting the plates, with my light loads the biggest problem I had was the spotters couldn't hear the hits especially if they didn't have electronic ear pro and even then it's hard to ear if there's other shooting going on.

"Pretty tame". Thanks, Captain Understatement.
