AR 15 gas ring issues, need help **PICS UP**

Hey guys bought a used Poly Tech CQ-A with approx. 300 rounds through it, previous owner says he had no issues with it, received gun, checked it out, lubed and went to the range, on the 9th round the bolt jammed hard in the carrier, left the range as I was unable to disassemble there, got everything apart and the tip of the front ring was folded out of the ring groove which is what caused the bolt & carrier to bind, ordered 2 sets of new rings from Alberta Tactical as none of my buddies or LGS had any, cleaned inspected, no noticable wear or burrs, installed 3 new rings, correct direction as one edge is sharper from being stamped, spaced correctly (which most think is a myth cause they move anyway) lubed, reassembled and back to the range, got off 27 rounds, same problem,,,WTF, same front ring over the groove and wedged, installed my last new set, 9 rounds, exact same thing, this is on a Friday and have a 3gun match Sat morn, a buddy who wasn't shooting lent me his NEA BCG, me and my daughter fired approx. 200 rounds at the match with zero issues with his BCG. 223 handloads 55gr Hornady SP over 26.3gr of CFE223 was the ammo being used. I have searched the web and have not really found any pertinent info on the cause, I have compared the bolt side by side to an Alberta Tactical built rifle, and swapped parts back n forth to try and see something obvious, when the rings are pushed into the inside diameter of the groove you could slide a hair under the gap on the opposite side, and it appears that the ID of the ring groove is a fraction to small and allowing the rings to ride to high and getting pushed over the edge of the ring groove, I am in no way trying to throw the previous owner under the bus and I realize that it is a used lower end gun but with the actual evidence in front of me and it happened 3 time in less than 50 rounds from my side of things its hard to believe it hasn't happened before...just sayin, but stanger things have happened I'm sure. It hard to see but in the second pic, but the ring is folded over, then removed for the other 2 pics, any input would be appreciated. At this point it appears I will be looking for another BCG.


 
It is not clear that you understand the difference between a bolt and a BCG. The pics you posted are of the bolt. The BCG includes the carrier and all the parts that fit inside the bolt and carrier.

If the issue is the bolt then replace the bolt. No need to replace the carrier and all its constituent parts.

He clearly refers to the bolt and carrier in his post so Iam pretty sure he knows the difference between a bolt and a BCG, and as far as I can tell this almost says to me the tolerances are sloppy in the carrier where the rings ride In the carrier, so if it's the carrier is at fault it would probably be easier to find a full BCG.
 
Yes i do know the difference, and yes those are pics of the bolt, if i was100% certain it was the bolt then i wouldnt have started this thread to ask for opinions, whats to say its not the carrier that is the issue. Im not sure where i the op what i wrote that insinuated i dont know the difference.
 
I guess if it were me I'd put a whole new bcg in there and call it a day. Bolt, carrier, all of it then use that for spare parts if you figure out what's out of spec. A complete set is only what $200?
 
I don't recall ever having noticed gas rings having a 'rounded off side' due to stamping. Maybe they do......but I've never noticed it.

What i have noticed is that Norc bolts are most often junk, and many problems magically disappear when you replace them with a good quality american made bolt. :d
 
It probably didn't "just show up"
My guess is buddy you bought it from replaced the gas rings and shipped it off, probably didn't want to diagnose and fix the prob on a 400$ gun

But unfortunately you can't prove it..
 
As mentioned I would play it safe and replace the entire BCG. Seeing as you borrowed your friend's and it ran fine the solution is right there. I would not keep anything off the Norinco BCG. I'd scrap it all.

I seen that, PM'd one guy a couple times with no reply and hes logged in a few times since then....dunno, the other that i seen was an unknown manufacturer. Let me know if you seen something worth checking out that i missed.
 
Do you have any pictures of your cam pin?

I know this is weird, but I've had similar problems with my Spike's Tactical bolt-carrier group. My gas rings were getting worn down very fast and breaking after about 40 rounds (but not jamming my bolt), I replaced the cam pin and it fixed the problem... The problematic cam pin had recesses around the hole through which the firing pin goes through and the one that fixed my problem just has a hole with no recesses around it.

This one has no recesses
