Mec sizemaster question

Hi all,

I just recently acquired a .410 Mec sizemaster. I put it all together and did the adjustments for 2.5" shells. I was playing around with it and tried some dry runs to see what the crimps would look like but found a problem. The initial crimp stage barely puts any crimp at all. I tried a few to test it. If I take the crimp starter off the spindex and push the shell manually into the crimp it works very nicely. Moving on to the final crimp. The final crimp either doesn't crimp enough or when adjusted with the cam and rod adjustment pushes too far in. So I guess my question is: do I just continue with trial and error until I get it right? Do the shells need to be reloaded to actually make a good crimp? Has anyone run into this problem?

I am using win AAs

Thanks,

Called the good people at mec and fixed it. I forgot to reverse the primer punch spacer. All good now and excellent crimps.

With Mec reloaders don't lose your patience. It's a machine that require constant care. If you are mechanically inclined you will dream Mecs in no time. If not, buy a PW or better.
I have had many Mecs in all models and shapes. I love playing with them and fiddle around till they speak the truth. They are good machines and parts are easily available and cheap.
Don't give up on yours.

Love my sizemaster. Admittedly slower than a progressive but turns out great reloads. Once you have it set up right you will be pleased with the results!
