Am I getting old... Or getting taste?

Levers are cool until you try to shoot them.also, if they were invented today we would say the mechanisms are ridiculous.

Is that an extended eye relief scope? What model is it?
I have the same takedown Browning and looking for a scope for it.

You bought a stainless steel lever gun with Grade I Fencpost wood for a stock. Don't sweat it...you're not developing a taste for the finer things in life. ;)

Lol until you look at that pump rifle and realize how ugly it is next to a lever gun like a 94 or 336. Pumps are for shotguns only....

Levers are soooooo 200 yrs ago man. The pump action is so effective they used it both for shotguns and rifles. :)

Think pointy bullets, long actions and easy to scope. Granted the 336 was easy to scope but the 1800s design M94 not so much. Who carries a 30/30 these days? it's an obsolete black powder chambering on par with trying to kill deer with a sharp stick. :)

You must think 870s are ugly too. :)

Well I did sell my 870, but only because I almost never got out shooting with it, definitely more of a rifle over shotgun preference. I actually think the Wingmasters are pretty darned nice to look at though.

Always boils down to personal preference, I haven't yet seen a pump rifle that I would want to own based on its looks, lets just put it that way. I am much more of a bolt action guy, but falling block actions are sure growing on me. Double rifles are beauties as well, but wayyyy out of my price range.

Actually I agree with that. The pumps are not as easy to look at as a fine bolt action. They are a very practical rifle that does what it's supposed to do with efficiency and dependability. I find that I use bolt guns a lot more these days. On the other hand, I don't find bolt action shotguns easy on the eyes either. Go figger. :)

Obviously there are those that like the pump action and those that do not. I have to admit to being part of the latter group. In shotguns and in rifles, its just not an action that appealed to me. From the "kachunk kachunk" of the;) pre hearing aid days to the "clank clank" of today, not for me. A decent quality bolt set-up is #1 for my liking, especially something along the lines of a Schultz & Larsen.

And 2nd, would be a decent quality lever gun and top of that line for me is my favorite, the Winchester model 71 deluxe.

Followed by a Marlin 444S

and a 1895 GBL
