Kel-tec su 16 tactical--reliability?longativity?any experiances ?

I'm not sure if they have done any updates to the plastic reciever but a few people had them crack and render the rifle useless. From what I recall it was a pain to get it fixed by the distributer.
 
The one I had was reliable I guess. If no ftf or fte in 1000 rounds is enough to judge.Acuracy was 1 1/2 MOA . I haven't heard of any broken receivers in a couple of yrs. The only thing I'd recommend is buy new as you'll have no warranty with second hand.
 
It is incredibly light.
Don't let that deceive you though.
It isn't as if you are going to go and club baby seals with it.

It is gas piston driven and returned by the spring that wraps about that same piston.
It is quite reliable with all brands that i found.
There was never a problem with any feed, extraction and ejection.
 
Love mine. Accurate and reliable out 200 yds. Shoots clean not much residue. Takes Beowulf mags so 14 rounds. Non-restricted and leave in Your car.
 
if you need to know if a keltec product is reliable, then your google-fu not strong!

keltec is at the exact polar opposite spectrum of reliability, but hey its cgn so it's frigging awesome! no it wont crack open and brake
 
My buddys SU-16 tactical has been super impressive! he only has maybe 400rnds through it, but so far, it seems respectfully accurate, well balanced, super light, ergonomic, easy to bolt accessory's to, and reliable, ive seen it jam maybe 5 times, and ive been there for all 400rnds. My only complaint with it so far was the trigger from the factory was crisp, but very heavy, like 8-9lbs we measured, I did a trigger job and got the trigger down to 5lbs so now its super nice. But the trigger was an absolute PAIN to re assemble.


Ive handled the folder SU's, would highly recommend the pistol grip one instead, the pistol grip one is fairly robust, but the folder im sure a 12 year old could break over his knee lol SUPER flimsy design.

More reliable and durable, most definitely. Better? That's more dependent on the situation. If what you need is a lightweight, portable and compact rifle, the SKS is definitely not what you want. If you need something that won't break in half during the winter, a Kel Tec SU-16 is not what you want.
