S & J Hardware mag extension question - new vs old design...

Anybody knows why they changed their design on these mag extensions? The older ones look different than the new ones, but is that due to the design improvement or to save money in manufacturing process? Thanks!

The machined notches in the second photo would take longer to make than the knurling in the first photo.
So I don't think it's to save time/money.

It's probably to make them more stylish.
Their top competitors like Nordic Components use the machined notches as well.

The notches won't wear out like the knurling will.

I prefer the knurling, I find it gives a better grip, and the only way you are going to wear it out is if you are using pliers on it.

This would be my guess as well. I like the look for he newer design actually.

Old style looks like Scattergun Technology.
New style looks like Nordic.

Nordic is the current poster child.....

I've been very pleased with the S&J Hardware mag tube extension for 870's. Never an issue (new style).
