Grizzly 12.5 vs sinsinati pump action 12.5

Likely due to cost. These two shotguns are in the $300 range, while an 870 receiver is $250-300 and adding a short barrel is another $200+. There's the cost of a stock set as well.

That seems a bit steep to me. I think you can be into a used 870 for $350. Couple bucks for a hacksaw blade, and few more for black paint.

I think you can be into prison in this context, but tell us more.

Make sure barrel is over 18 1/2" and OAL is legal. Tell me what's illegal? I don't advocate ruining quality guns, but the OP wants it for "bear defence" so likely wants something compact.

I have a Sinsinati from Corwin. Choke selection is nice, allows an open choke that will shoot flares, as important as bear defence in my opinion. It's a well built gun and easy to carry. Comes with an extension to 18" that I haven't used, but does make it more versatile. I've shot buckshot and slugs with it so far.
No experience with the Grizzly.

Ahhhh..I see now. My bad. If you are set on 12.5", I suppose you are limited in options. Understood.

Dilly... I don't think you truly understand that the 12.5" Shotgun Barrel is the new "standard" for Hunting and Sporting Shotguns. Seems it doesn't seem to matter how a Shotgun swings and handles anymore just the fact that it has a 12.5" Barrel is enough.

Exactly. Gotta have a 12.5" along with the latest in "forest fashion". :runaway:

I think it's the latest "I can't carry a handgun, so I will improvise"....
I have handled an 18 1/2" for dogging deer. It's plenty short enough IMO. I went back to a 26" and did much better in the hit dept.
