I've been trying to find either a 4566 or 4563 for quite some time now to add to my collection, posted many WTB ads.

Are these unicorns/rare in these parts? Would I be better off to just look South for them instead?

I had a chance to buy a consecutive pair around 2004 for cheap, I wish I had :(

ive had 2x 4566's.... one stainless and one two tone lipsey special (blued slide/stainless lower)

wish i never sold them, if you want a picture of the lipsey i still have it on my bacup disc.... pm me your email.

Saw a 4516 go in auction a month ago for $600 + fees + tax. Most prohib S&W autos sell for less - a lot less.

I love the "old" S&W autos, but they just aren't all that common in 45. I see 9's come up at auctions all the time.

Those were expensive guns, back in the day - $1K was a lot for a handgun when you could get a P220 for $800 (and the economy sucked - like it will in 3 years). The gun of the week period was weird, all sorts of things were supposedly available, but the numbers produced were pretty small. I tried to order a 4576 and was told that there were none in Canada, and would likely never be, due to low volume in the US. So, I guess what I'm saying is pretty much, yes, it's a unicorn there may only be 2 or 3 in the country - might want to keep an eye out on Gunbroker, but they're not common in the US either

cant post pictures but here is drop box link to my 4506/4566.... taken ?10? years ago, if someone wants to download it and post pic i am cool with that.
