9mm slide on a 7.62mm TT33?

The slide on my TT33 is a bit buggered and I've located a brand new slide locally....except the fact that it's for a 9x19mm TT33 and I have a 7.62×25mm TT33.

Are these slides compatible? Plug and play or are there minor variations and one doesn't fly with the other?

Before someone jumps up and tells me to simply buy a new pistol because they're so inexpensive...$60 slide < $200-300 pistol.

I think they are the same my tt-33 9mm was just a barrel swap slide was interchangeable

I have a Tokagypt (sp?) that is a fancified TT33. It came in 7.62x25 Tokarev but also came with an extra 9mm barrel and 9mm mag which were all that were required to change calibres. I don't see any reason why it would not work with a TT-33.

If its specific then x25 rounds may not eject and cases may be stuck

That's what I thought. When I eyeballed the 9x19mm slide it seemed to me that the ejection port was shorter. Yeah, I have a feeling that a simple switch just won't fly. Pity. And I can't find spare slides anywhere as everyone seems to be out of stock.

If the slides are dimensionally the same except for the ejection port why not just have it machined out slightly?

That would be probably $150 minimum to get it machined + $60 for the slide. You'd be better off getting a whole new TT and use the old one for spare parts.

As long as it's just the ejection port that needs to be lengthened ~6mm, I can't imagine that it's outside of the abilities of the home hobbyist, i.e. go at it with a 3/8" or so grinding wheel. If however, the "boltface" is moved forward as well as with the M213, it's a non-starter IMO.

I'd go with Tradeex parts kit, which includes the slide. =179+taxes, or just buy more tokarevs
