last week i was out and all of the sudden my 10/22 was FTE.
I figured it needed cleaned but i have now discovered that my extractor, extracted its self, along with the spring and rod/plunger

so 2 questions

I see there are a lot of aftermarket extractors, but what none of them come with is the small rod/plunger thats between the spring and actual extractor. Where can i buy that small rod? I will be ordering parts today

question 2.
Is this common, or is it possible my bolt is worn and allowed those parts to fall out? i clean it a couple times a year and never noticed anything wront with the extractor so never have had it removed

Thanks

I suspect the spring may have broken allowing the extractor and pin to fall out.
Western Gun Parts would be my first call looking for replacements.
When you put the replacement parts back in the bolt do it inside a clear plastic bag.
When the parts go flying they will be a lot easier to find.

Local hardware store. Buy a drill bit the right size. File a notch around the shank and snap of the right size piece. File a nice radius on the broken off end, a flat on the end that pushes against the spring.

Should take you about ten less minutes to do than to crawl around the floor looking for the part. If you really think having a shank reduced down to fit inside the spring, is a requirement, that can be done with a file and an electric drill motor, to turn the part.
