I have had my benelli ultralight 20g for around 7 years now, I love everything about it except the mid bead. I still can't figure out why any company would add a mid bead to a vent rib in front of a red "fiber optic" type front bead. The mid bead basically blocks any benefit one may have with the red front bead.

So this is my question, is there a way to remove the mid bead from the carbon fiber vent rib or am I stuck with it?

Angle grinder ;)

If you're looking at your beads you're not looking at your target. I used to have a BUL and I loved it but the mid bead didn't bother me at all. It's pressed into the rib so you're stuck with it.

1. Stop pulling the bead.
2. You should be looking at the front red bead, sitting right on top of the mid-bead. Like a figure 8
3. If you are focusing on the beads you are not focusing on the target. The shotgun should be naturally pointing at the target as you raise and aim it.

Benelli uses a common mid-bead among its models. It is screwed in to the rib so you should be able to remove it with a little patience and a pair of needle nosed pliers.

Not with the BUL, it has a carbon fibre rib and both beads are pressed in and permanently attached.

These two sites show a threaded mid-bead and a front sight that is screwed in for the Ultralight although it would make sense instead of threading the carbon fiber rib Benelli would just press and glue them in.

Even if it can't be screwed out if it bothered the OP that much it's not hard to snap a bead off. Don't ask me now I know.

I owned one for 4 years, they're not threaded and the ribs are delicate. I had an entire barrel replaced because of the rib coming loose, they're was no way to fix it so they just gave me a new barrel.

Thanks. I never owned one but test drove a couple and didn't realize the beads were not threaded into the barrel. Nice guns but too light for my liking.

They're a lot of fun but for only being a little bit lighter than a similarly configured M2 they just weren't that durable. I sold mine and got a straight black M2 with a 26" barrel and it's only a half pound heavier and much more durable/robust.

When done properly the mid bead is smaller and lower than the front sight and acts as a reference to make sure you've mounted the shotgun correctly. An oversized mid bead that obscures the front bead seems a bit ridiculous to me but I've seen it before.
