I'm looking for high quality generic CZ magazines for a future Shadow 2 purchase.
Can you please recommend a good product and vendor?
I've searched this forum, and some people are recommending Mec-Gar magazines.

Also, what is a "+2 baseplate" for, and why would I need one?

Thanks folks

Mecgar is the official manufacture of CZ mags. The new style mags that are available from them in Canada are the full body mags with a dent on two sides that limit them to 10 rounds. These bodies are the same as what the Shadow and Shadow 2 now ship with in Europe and wherever mag laws aren't an issue. They also come with the +2 baseplate which turns them into 19 round mags instead of 17 round mags. The +2 for most people gives a quicker and easier index for reloading as it makes the mag easier to grab. Some people don't like them though (Robin Sebo for instance, but Maria Guschina and Michal Stepan do), because of the way the mags are dented for Canada the +2 doesn't add any capacity.
As for the quality of those mags, they are quite simply the best mags on the market, better than the Tanfo mags we used to recommend (that wouldn't work with the CZ if you flipped the mag catch to lefty), with a number of design improvements to help make them last longer.

Where is the cheapest place to buy these?
Will Brownells.com ship them to Canada? (Sorry if that's an obtuse question)

Yea, I just did this. Was very easy. Placed an order for the 10 round magazines and the next morning they sent me a form to sign and send back. Done.

Corwin Arms sells some very high quality mags at a very good price. They are made in Italy and they appear to be every bit as quality as Mecgar, perhaps even made by them. I don't know of anyone in Canada wth the extended baseplates and I have been looking. I ordered some from Brownells instead but it's an estimated 4-6 weeks wait as they are special order.

DoubleTap has them.

I am confused. Why go to the expense to buy a high end quality produce like the Shadow2 and then run anything but CZ mags that might cost you a few more dollars. Kinda like buying the Shadow2 and putting it in an Fobus holster or a Jaguar and putting cheap tires on it. Mecgar makes CZ mags so why not stick with CZ mags.

I picked up some e-landers since Wolverine was out of CZ. They were tight, but sending them home 20 or so times over seems to have loosened them up.

I bet you are very confused. obviously you have no idea what mec-gar mags look like. all the mec-gar mags I bought for cz and sig, were made in italy with great quality. all of them match or exceed the factory mag quality. these mags drop free in cz and people use them in their shadows for ipsc without any issues whatsoever.
For Sig, mec-gar was one of the official suppliers until Sig switched to another crappy vendor(don't remember which) to save cost. after that, people can tell the big difference and all prefer mec-gar mags on sig.

I assume the Mecgar mags you are talking about are similar to the dozen or so Mecgar mags I have hanging in my gun room for the various pistols I own. Good thing the Mecgar mags you own were made in Italy. That is where their factory is located which no doubt accounts for the Made in Italy found on the Mecgar mags. Let me take another look. Yup they look just like Mecgar mags cuz that is what they are. You lose your bet. CZ mags are made by Mecgar in Italy, so are Girsan which makes both mags Mecgar mags.

The aftermarket CZ MecGar mags are full body, steel mags which accept the +2 base plate. For this reason, they are, in my opinion, better than the stock CZ mags that shipped with the Shadows in Canada. The stock mags have the lower 1/3 made out of plastic and do not accept the +2 baseplate.

Reliable Gun had the MecGar mags and +2 base pads in stock about a month ago. They don't list the base pads on their website, so you will have to call or email them.

To save others from calling - I called a week ago and they were out of stock with no time line on getting new stock. Still looking myself.
