Is this a decent radio for a guy who works in the boonies traveling down radio controlled roads? I have a very expensive Motorola but the stupid POS is only programmed for half the frequencies I usually need. I know it's a grey area and or illegal but being able to just program a frequency on the fly would possibly save me a trip into the ditch, or somewhere much worse.

Countless reviews, on countless different sites. *YouTube and Google will set you free!*

You don't have to wait for a Gunnie to give you his 2 cents. These have been around for awhile, so you can easily learn the good, bad and ugly.
(But since you asked: Here's an opinion from a Gunnut that has bought 23 of these so far: The 'Bad' and the 'Ugly' are laughable when you consider the price.)

-3800mah battery: YES!
-Baofeng programming cable: 100% YES!
-Antenna upgrade (Nagoya 701, 771, Pryme AL-800, etc): YES! (But don't toss the original. When you don't need the extra distance, the longer antennas are a real PITA on a hip-worn radio.)

What exactly do you program with these?

The frequencies that serve my job and our local *Police* and fire.
*Buggers just switched to digital encrypted, so the wife can't really 'eavesdrop' anymore!*

These little buggers can do so much that you wouldn't expect,...as long as you don't expect $600 performance from a $40 radio. Expect $200 performance and you'll be happy.

Also, with regards to the accessories now listed on CanAm:
All very, very fair deals, but the NA-771 (Nagoya-771) and the programming cable are AWESOME deals!

CanAm,

Are those guaranteed genuine Nagoya NA-771 antennas?

I only ask because the market is completely flooded with counterfeit Nagoyas. The only place that I could find that is an official Nagoya reseller is https://baofengtech.com

If you can guarantee the authenticity, I'll buy 3 of them as soon as you have them in stock.

Yes. The radio would do what you want to do with it.

Placed an order for 3. Very disappointed to see the antennas out of stock. Any idea when you'll have more?

The radios will function for what you described above, with the POS stock rubber ducky. I was hitting a repeater 7km away last night with mine, from inside my house.

The mfr is listed as REUEX INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD, so they are genuine fakes
