Ok If I remember correctly there was some talk a while back about CZ making both 3/8" & 11mm rails on their 452 rails. does anyone remember this and how to identify this? as I just got my hands on a 452 Varmint

452 Varmint in .22LR is 11mm.

nope 3/8" if this info is right. my new 452 is a 17hmr so I'm ok. I ordered 2 DIP rails in 25MOA extended one in 3/8" & 11mm I'm ok then. I bought 1 of each.

I was worried I have to sell it and order another but if your info chart is correct. All is good in CZ land. So now I'm selling all my other CZ rifles as I only need 2

I'm kinda on the fence about selling that new 452 American as it hard to get & it meets USBR & ARA standard factory class matches.

the DIP rails are going on to 455 Varmint fluted .22lr which is 11mm and the 452 Varmint 17hmr. 3/8" the method to the madness is I have 452 & 455 rifled actions as my keepers.

Now I have to find two Boyd Pro Varmint stocks for the 2 I'm keeping.

I think there is a problem with the info or rifle cz452 Varmint 17hmr Czech made receiver might be 11mm as the 3/8" DIP base has lots of side to side play where the DIP 11mm has very little.
if this is the case I'm going to have to order another 11mm 25MOA base.

Measure the dovetail for width at the top if it measures .430" you have a 11mm dovetail. .500" at top you have a 3/8" dovetail

+1. I remember reading something on RFC about the CZ 3/8" dove tails being "unusual". IE, not the right size. I'm glad both of mine are 11mm.

Another curve is said to be that the 11mm dovetails are European and have a 60 deg dovetail cut.And the 3/8" dovetails are cut are a 45 deg angle.I don't have anything CZ that is 3/8" to confirm. Will try and dig that post up somewhere.Annies as an example 11 mm are cut at 60 deg as most air rifles are as well.

lots on play when putting on a 3/8" 25moa DIP base on this rifle. so again I tried the 11mm 25moa DIP rail and I get a way better fit. I haven't measured these rifles yet. but I'm leaning towards it's a 11mm.

just have to decide if I'm sending the 3/8" base back or flip it here.

452 varmints were built with both 11mm and 3/8" rails... 11mm has no issues with any rings, the 3/8" are the finicky ones...I like talleys for these but leupold makes 13mm rings now that may work properly. As an aside, sometimes we see 452 varmints being sold as americans... although they are varmint, they are stamped American on the receiver.

ok I had my son help me as he has younger eyes and it turns out both my 452 Varmint & my 455 varmint are both 11mm dove tail. So that chart doesn't help. I'm now going to sell the rail.
