Just wondering what optics people are using on their CZs. This will be for general use, though probably weighted more towards plinking/target use than hunting. I'm leaning towards a reticle with some hash marks to give aiming points for longer distances.

How important is a parallax adjustment vs something with fixed 50yd parallax?

I get the impression that the size of the eyepiece may be an issue for some scopes due to bolt clearance? (Vortex for example seems to have particularly large eyepieces.)

Basically any advice you have is welcome...

my scope cost more then the rifle. I'm running SWFA SS 16x42 AO on my CZ455 & Leupold VXII 6x42 target competition AO on my CZ452.

when my X-Ring 10/22 is finished it's build it's getting a Sightron SII Big Sky 24x44 AO

I'm waiting to buy another SWFA SS 20x at a later date.

I'm actually interested in this as well. I'm considering putting a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x50 on mine, but they do have larger oculars as well.

I have a nikon rimfire 2 scope on mine. Seems good for the price, but I'm not looking to squeeze absolute precision out of the rifle either.

I had a Nikon Target EFR on my 455, it needed high rings to clear both the bolt throw and objective lens.
The Leupold scopes have a smaller eyepiece, it's easier to get bolt clearance.
The VX2 6-18 x 40 AO is a nice scope. Fits well with Warne high rings.

I have six 455's, three Canadian, three American. This one is a .17HMR with a good old Bushnell ScopeChief 2.5-8. I have Leupold VX-1 2-7x28's on three, and a Bushnell something on another. Can't remember what is on #6.

I have used them all on gopher defence. No complaints. :)

You will want an adjustable parallax, and for target shooting I'd go with a 4-16x magnification or more with mildot or a fine crosshair with extra hashmarks.

I have a Vortex crossfire 6-18 that was cheap enough and has worked for a few years, also a Sightron SII 6-24 but its a target dot and I'm not sure I like it. and on the super cheap I have a Leapers 4-16x50 AO mildot that has been going strong for 5-6 years now.. (a couple on the EE right now for $75)

Amazon.ca is the only place that I can find them. I swich them out every so offten. I can see the point of impact at 100M on bench rest.

Hmmm...I'd like to see that scope!

I had a Nikon EFR with fine duplex reticle and a small center dot, what Nikon calls their "precision reticle". I decided I'd rather have a plain fine duplex crosshair, I didn't like the center dot. Personal preference I guess.
If I buy any more 22 scopes, it might be something with a mil-dot reticle.

This... Text in bold.

I tried a beautiful Zeiss scope with holdover reticle but the fixed parallax was hopeless. I found a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO without high turrets, and promptly took the elevation adjustment out shooting targets and silhouettes from 25m - 200m. Vortex warranty is great, but while awaiting a replacement, I located a Bushnell 4200 4-16x40 AO with 1/8moa capped target turrets which still sits on the 452 THV 22lr. I sold the replacement Diamondback, and determined not to buy a scope from Vortex that is less than the Viper line.

The holdovers worked good on the Zeiss if you fancy that feature... but adjustable objective is a necessity for such shooting. Tube diameter of your choosing but I prefer one inch as the small size to small rifle balance aesthetically pleasing.

I went mad and bought a Bushnell tactical 3-12x44 with G2 reticle. The zoom range seems appropriate for target shooting up to 100 yards and closer range hunting distance. The parallax adjustment helps in accuracy by minimizing reticle shift with head movements. It might be a bit of an overkill in my case, but the price was good...

As for bolt clearance, it is true that a larger eyepiece requires high mounts. I use BKL mounts, they are made for 11 mm dovetail.

Keep us informed of your final choice!
