Holbrook Device

Correct me if I am mistaken, but isn't that the device that replaces the op-rod "thing-a-ma-bob", so the action won't close if you twitch while loading an embloc?

It's a cure to a non-existent problem IMHO.

Ah, and so it is!

My google-fu is strong today!

http:// m1thumbsaver.com

I have never tried one, so I don't know if it has any practical advantage. I can see someone who has experienced "Garand Thumb" would feel very differently tho!

Never used one and don't own a Garand (don't intend to either) but seems useful.

Haven't looked at it in awhile and I might be mistaken, but didn't it also allow you to single load ?

Still remember when I was a kid, couple of Mormon missionaries stopped by the house. Very friendly and fresh out of the US army. first time I ever heard of the rifle and " M 1 Thumb ". :)

I've never experienced a genuine "Garand Thumb", but I have experienced the next worst thing. "Ljungman Thumb". I could see why anything designed to prevent that would be marketable. My thumb still has numb spots 10 years later.

I have experienced M1 thumb, which to me is only a serious risk when trying to drop the bolt on an empty gun. If there are cartridges there the bolt is slowed enough to offer no risk of any serious pain.

I have not experienced Llungman finger, but having watched the bolt slam home on a few of those I expect it is much worse than M1 thumb. That bolt really rockets forward on those things.
