3 Gun Tips and Tricks

Yes....and it is AWESOME!!!!

I guess it depends how close to the action you were.
Being at "ground zero", I think I may have a mild case of PPPIND (post projectile puke induced nightmare disorder).

The guy in the front passenger seat definitely got the best ab workout though.
Never seen someone laugh so hard

 What's today's tip guys? Hopefully I will get to try out this 3 gun thing next weekend.

Make sure that you test/know how your ammo preforms before the match.

A few months ago I came across a fantastic deal on a bunch of SCORE shotgun ammo.
Of course I bought a bunch. Got out to the range with my M3000 and it would not cycle it at all.

It worked out in the end cause my pump guns seem to like it just fine...

If you are being video taped...that's the time to go as fast as you can. The hits/misses are never on video so everyone on the internet will think you're better than Daniel Horner.

Lube your AR!

This reminded me of something that I learned the hard way.
Definitely clean and lube your guns, but NEVER show up to a match with clean guns.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS get rounds down range in your guns after cleaning to make sure they work 100% before you go to compete.

Watching folks use brand new, never used kit on match day can be painful yet entertaining.
Always entertaining!

I've been practicing load-two and starting to get the hang of quad loading with snap caps at home (stupid business obligations getting in the way of range time). Also not from a carrier because I don't have one yet. I have found so far that I prefer using my weak hand for this. Why is duece/quad loading typically done with the strong hand?

Pro tip: Always say a small prayer before the match. Dear 8 pound 6 ounce newborn infant Jesus, don't even know a word yet just a little infant so cuddly.

Right before a stage I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagle's wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!

Its not.
Its done with the hand you feel most comfortable with and can be most consistent with.

Talk to other the guys on your squad, there can be a few different ways to shoot a stage and most guys won't mind talking about it. Also ask about their gear if you see something that works for them and might work for you. They may even let you try it out for a stage or after the match.
Remember that you need to learn to walk before you run, go slow enough to be safe.
Also a big one that I see with new shooters is not being very familiar with their guns. Learn how to lock the bolt or slide open for the unload show clear command. Zero your gun at your chosen distance and learn the dope for it at closer and shorter ranges.

Don't be afraid to show up to a match and watch to get an idea of the sport and don't be afraid to show up and try it out with whatever gear you have, even if that is an sks, a duck gun and a pistol.

I started out with Weak hand reloading. I now mostly do Stronghand reloading because I find I can maintain more control over the muzzle while traveling 90 degrees to the stage. There are times when it is advantages to Weak hand reload, and my belt is setup so I can do so when it is warranted. Also, when a stage might have slugs mixed in with shot, I will Stonghand reload the shot, and weak hand reload the slugs.

Pro tip: if you don't want to be forever owing your squad mates beer, you should probably remove the match saver from your shotgun.
